Well this one was going to be a little tougher until UC23Leahy took Pat Lenehan in the final round. Had a solid team and now only can argue for 6. If you weren't going to take it seriously, let someone who wanted to play do so....

My worst pick was Tenspro with Rashad Anderson. It's great to have a 3pt specialist, but that's all he is. Gives you little defense, ball handling, and finishing at the rim. Much better to leave him for 6/7 rounds and take a guy like Tony Robertson who can do it all.

Actually, I'll edit that. My worst pick is NOONE selecting Tony Robertson. You are all out of your minds. (unless I missed it, which would be easy to do because this is so confusing)

WTF was Lenehan about? UC cost himself with that one. Bench is important.

What other picks were in the running?

You asked about the Boone pick, and while it wasn't awful, I would have gone for KFree over him at the 4. Less size, but a better player. It's not completely about stats. Boone got a huge advantage playing with some of the guys he did.

Given that my team is very offensive minded I prefer the size and shot blocking. I wasn't making my picks in a vacuum, but what would best compliment my Ray/Smith combo.

But how was Boone a product of his team in 05? Don't get that...especially since I can just make the case his numbers dipped in 06 due to the emergence of Hilton.

Besides that everyone's team would be at least fairly loaded if they had played together in any given year. Not worried about hypothetical stats with boone other than his blk/rebound normal/per 40 stats from 05.

For the record, I don't have any problem with Boone over KFree. Both great compliments in different ways for the teams they played on even though they played the same position. Depending on what you have already, you could make an argument for one over the other. Definitely not in the consideration for worst pick.

Note, I didn't have him in consideration for worst pick. It was just a question pckt asked on the main draft thread. That's why I brought it up.

I understand, I think it was the right pick based on who I had already though. Plus it's fun to finally be able to discuss

I know, @jleves is there any way we could see the discussion thread, I think it would be really interesting for us to see

I was sort of stuck between a rock and a hard place. I wanted a true wing, not another undersized 2-guard playing the 3. Most of the skilled 3's were already gone.

Quite frankly, with the backcourt talent I already had (AJP, Sheffer), I didn't need to take a guy who could create his own shot. With Okafor posting up, I didn't really need a slasher. Imagine how much more effective Rashad can be with 2 other guys setting him up, and a stud in the post who demands double-teams all game. He wasn't the best guy at the position, but I felt like he fit my team best.

Admittedly, he is pretty weak on defense, but that's why I went with Kromah in round 7, to be able to bring in a defensive stopper when necessary to slow down a stud 2/3.

No problem with that thread being opened, but I have to tell you guys....there isn't much there. We didn't discuss every pick and the gamed moved too slow to keep up any momentum.

You will be disappointed in the content. Better to discuss here.

I understand, it would just be cool to see some of the prior stuff, I think you should open it and lock it so we can still see it but discuss here

Just toss any other solid nuggets here then I guess

Up to Jleves. I've no problems with it.

A NOTE FOR EVERYONE: don't get offended by what's said, as it was all in good fun. we may have been a bit too demonstrative than we would be generally iirc.

I can understand that. At the same time, Robertson has just as good 3pt% as Anderson. Obviously if you want a big 3, no one in UCONN history matched Anderson, so you like him in tight games. But TR will give you 3s at a similar clip. He's also a better 2pt% shooter (obviously ball handler and defender too).

The reason I harped on TR was that he was a relatively complete player. Also, at a rangy 6'2, you could get away with him at the wing against certain match ups.

Anderson brings you a clutchness that Robertson doesn't bring. He hit every big shot. He was perhaps picked too early, but I, personally, would pick him before TRob every day of the week, especially since I had slashers.

Despite this, I would have picked Robertson in the last round if Hanson was not available.

If you play Anderson full time against these stacked lineups, he's going to get eaten on D. A great wing (and UCONN has plenty of them) could drop 30 with impunity against Rash.

Right. I would not pick him in a position where he would start. He'd be a bench player for me--especially if I had gaurds who couldn't defend. With Kemba and Taliek, I'd feel comfortable with him playing minutes...but definitely not starting.

One thing I have to say: I think UCFB got killed because of the assumption that his starting lineup was his draft order.

I plan on "starting":

Kemba
Hanson
Rudy
Corny
Sellers

While draft order might suggest this instead:

Taliek
Kemba
Rudy
Niels
Corny

And bringing Taliek and Giffey (both of whom I expect will play a lot). I see Taliek coming off the bench sort of like Shabazz as a freshman (senior Taliek would provide more toughness and leadership than Freshman Shabazz, but less shooting, obviously), allowing long stretches of Kemba playing the 2, and depending on matchups, deciding whom to play (Rudy-Tony-Niels-Corny-Rod).

I planned on starting Kelley over Dyson the whole time.

That's one of the interesting things about this game; I started watching around the Dream Season time. I just learned about Earl Kelly through this draft process when looking at Matrim's team. Sounds like a beast. We'll see how posters view it.

I personally don't care who drafts who where. It's whoever you want to start along with your bench for each matchup. Doesn't even have to remain the same between rounds.

I'm sorry but like I couldn't decide who to take, so I figured I wouldn't end up using the pick anyways. Then I was just like why not Pat

this is true too. Depending on the matchup we may all start different teams. Maybe go two guard maybe three. We should be allowed to submit our starting lineups before the matchup is posted. Is that possible to do for future matchup? I'll probably lose this round and it didn't help that my starting 5 was posted w/o Kelley.

Yeah, your matchup is really tough to call. For what it's worth, without having read your posts, I was treating you as starting Kelly and Dyson coming off the bench. Still haven't voted on this one.

Your one big knock is no true PG imo.

I knew that was always going to be my weakness. I wad hoping Kelley would be enough to overcome this. We'll see.
