I've read on a Seattle site that, (by atleast a couple posters) Gabby is still tied to the Seattle Storm, so if she were to come back this season it would be with them. I don't know if this is accurate. There was further speculation that to make that happen, the Storm would need to release Joyner Holmes and/or Victoria Vivians to accommodate Gabby's salary.

If the Storm could bring Gabby in to finish the season it would be huge for their chances to compete for a title this season. Adding her to any WNBA roster would be a game changer! The other thing I've read is that she has signed with a Turkish league team for the winter and that that leagues season end would not present a problem for her availability at the start of the 2025 WNBA season.

I would love to see her back in the W. She is such an amazing player and just a joy to watch playing the game.

Looks like she can, along with Messeman and Johannes.

I think Meesseman, before the W season started, was staying overseas. I am too lazy to find the exact date and link but I remember reading about this when I was checking to see if Nikolina Milic was coming back for the Lynx this season. I know in Meesseman's case, she really wanted to stay overseas this year. Not only to play for her National team but also to help develop the young players over in Belgium. Gotta love that about Emma Meeseman and other WNBA players who stay overseas to play for their National Team.

Totally possible, however my response was more in regards to another post about Gabby being available for this season. I've been under the assumption that Messeman has opted to stay overseas since she hasn't returned to the WNBA for a couple years now.

being that am Gabbyfan, I couldn't take my eyes off her the whole game. She tried countless times to dish the ball to her teammates when she could have driven to the basket and used her incredible athletic ability to score. I am glad we got the gold medal, but I felt bad for the French team and for Gabby who was undoubtedly the best player on the floor in this game.

12 years ago, at age 15, she was an Olympic hopeful--in the high jump. She set or tied the U.S. age -group record, but finished 5th, 2 places out of qualifying. 2 ACL tears and lots of basketball later, she has 2 Olympic medals.

I have wondered about Gabby's French-speaking ability, had she learned the language, and to what extent? Then I learned that her mother was French, which facilitated her gaining French nationality and a passport. Now, I wonder if she was raised bilingually and always spoke French. Here's a short clip of Ms. Versitality, the Gabulous One, the Gabster speaking French and sounding totally fluent. Go Gabby!

I remember an interview (which I am too lazy to search for) where Gabby said that when she first moved to France she had trouble understanding the verlan (French slang that is at least a generation younger than me.) Her teammates teased her that she talked like a grandma, which she said was normal since she grew up speaking French with her own grandma.

I know that a lot of comments are forthcoming regarding not having Clark on our National Team, but the real question should be why isn't Gabby a member of our National Team. She was the best player, by far, on the floor today and she should have been selected for our National Team for the Japan Olympics. There wasn't another player in college nor is there anyone on the planet who has her rebounding, speed and scoring abilities all in one player. She took it to us and France would have won if anyone of their other players had a decent game. Give credit to our woman who had the ability to pull this game out and bring home the "gold". But as stated above, Gabby was one of my favorite UCONN Players of all-time, and as with the rest of the posters, she still is.

Honestly, it’s taken her a lot of years to get to this level. US Basketball probably never thought she would get to this level and also had a lot of other prospects to focus on. So instead of waiting her turn to ‘maybe’ make a US Basketball squad, she went to France where it was more of a guarantee for her.

Gabby jumped pretty high in college as well. ( Three future Olympians in this picture) View attachment 102845

I believe that Gabby jumped for the tip in her last 2 seasons, over Phee and even Azura on the rare occasions that W started. I don't recall how many tips Gabby won but I think she was about 65-5. This photo is typical.

Actually she has been playing in France even when she was with the WNBA. The issue was that at one time the W basically punished players for playing overseas by forcing them to leave before their season was over or not play. She currently makes more money playing in France then what she would make in the W.

Angel Reese was trying to recruit Gabby via Twitter/X today. Gabby declined because Chicago "did her dirty." I think several GMs are likely interested.

Gabby will play for Fenerbahce in Turkey next year and will not have a conflict with the W prioritization rule.

I was going to post my feeling on how Gabby performed but Gabbyfan said it all.

I recently told someone that if given the choice of watching Caitlin Clark or Gabby Williams, I would choose Gabby every day and twice on Sunday. And I'm not a Clark hater. I love watching Gabby play on both ends of the court.

I agree. I made a point of watching Seattle games when Gabby was playing there. Gabby makes plays that no one else makes.
