Is there another game/activity that can drive you more in to self-doubt than golf?
No defense, no shot clock and no teammates to blame. Just you , the ball and a club.
I was out earlier today and was trying out new golf balls I got as a birthday gift- Taylor Made Pentas. Nice golf ball and a better golf ball than I usually play.
Problem is the ball seems to have a dead spot on swings where I'm going 75%-80%.
I have a mixed bag of clubs- Nike Machspeed Square driver, Adams 16 and 19 degree hybrids, Wilson Ci7 irons and Titliest Vokey wedges. Across the board on my iron play the ball seemed normal distance wise, and it seemed to work good on chips and putts. But any time I tried to feather an iron in to the green, it'd come up 10 yards short.
Over the past few years I've played
Taylor Made Pentas
Nike One Tour
Nike One Tour D
Nike One Speed
Bridgestone e5, e6, 37
Bridgestone 330
Bridgestone 330s
and out of all of them, the Taylor Made's are the only ones that do it. Happened with my Wilson irons and my Vokey wedges so I'm leaning towards it being the golf ball and not the club.
Irritating. I'm seriously contemplating donated the rest of the golf balls to a friend and starting from scratch.
