Yeah, but realistically, would Dave answer that way if it was #3? No. He'd say something like: "that's an interesting idea, perhaps we will look into that". So either UConn has been talking about it internally or they have been with Notre Dame.
... and then ND mentioned

# 4 “How about playing in an actual football stadium instead?”

That quote could mean different things.

1). The conversation took place with Notre Dame.
2). The conversation took place among people in UConn's athletic department only.
3). The conversation never took place anywhere.
1A. The conversation took place and ND lol'd and then said "Seriously, no."

So how much is UConn making between the Big East and the independent schedule for 2020 compared to American this year?

How about playing them in Yankee Stadium as that would be huge and again it could lead to UConn playing at MSG for Men and Women's basketball the same weekend. That would be awesome and NBC or ABC would televise the game

Contract it for home & away, flip the MHOC & CFB start times and put the bball on Sunday. I would plan a weekend in South Bend every other year & one in Hartford for this
ND usually doesn't play home hockey games on the same day as a football game.

This is a great idea. You could set this up as an every other year event (with a different team each year) that has a men’s/women’s b-ball doubleheader on Saturday at msg followed by a noon football game at yankee stadium on Saturday.

You would attract the elite athletic programs with quality teams across all sports with huge traveling fan bases that we’d normally never get a football game against in the NE. NYC the week before Thanksgiving would be very attractive for the other school in terms of both exposure and potential focus event for their donors and fans. It would almost be like a mid-season bowl game type event in terms of a travel package and fundraising event.

This could also help our independent tv contract negotiations with a focus event like this. Could potentially even get a corporate sponsor for the event (similar to the chick-fil-a kickoff game). And it would help our current independent scheduling challenge of finding a quality P5 opponent willing to play us in November. And if we ever get good again, it would be our chance for a late season focus game against a high level opponent since we have no conference championship game to potentially play in each year.

The programs you could attract are the top of the top for an event like this. Think programs like:

Texas
Norte Dame
Florida
LSU
Ohio St
Georgia
Oklahoma
USC
Florida St
Oregon

Programs of that ilk.

This could be an absolutely incredible idea and event if marketed and executed correctly!

The idea was for NYC at Yankee Stadium.

The original idea was for one game at ND and one at the Rent. ND would have none of that. Foxboro was also discussed but the return game was not finalized. Then we beat them in South Bend and the series was done.
