I simply asked a question, but oh yes, right, the negativity card, should have known it would been brought up. So you win!

If the card fits, play it.

Actually, Xylina did not "reject us". Geno consulted with her family and her coaches and withdrew her offer, and she then committed elsewhere, UNC I believe. I believe Geno sensed that she wanted to come to UConn but with so many good players at her position already on board or coming she would not get the playing time she wanted.
i think this is somewhat accurate. i found the thread that had the quotes from Rich who apparently talked to her coach...

UConn is [no] longer recruiting Xylina McDaniel, a 6-foot-1 forward from Blythewood, S.C., her AAU coach Roger Wiley confirmed today. She will now decide between North Carolina and South Carolina and will again visit North Carolina Sunday.

“From what I understand they talked to her high school coach and talked to her mom,’’ Wiley said. “Her dad is who I get the majority of my information from right now and basically he said he called up UConn and they said we decided to make it easy for Xylina since she was struggling with her decision and withdrew themselves from consideration.

“I think when they say that she’s struggling with making her decision … She’s a kid that doesn’t like to let people down. She’s just a very good kid. Recently, she said she was tired of the recruiting process and wanted to go ahead and make her decision. And then when I asked, `What’s your decision?’ She said, `I don’t know.’ So that will give you an idea. I kind of get the feeling that she wants people to back out and not have to make that decision. And I get feeling that’s exactly what UConn did.’’

IMHO, i got the sense from all this that Xy wasn't "chomping at the bit" to come to UCONN, and if a kid's not totally committe like that, it's not a good match. plus, we had Tuck in tow anyway and Xylina is not at the same level Morgan is.

You know what else has not happened in almost 15 months? TN has not gotten a single recruit, not to mention a badly needed JUCO commit. They have missed out on at least 5 high profile recruits, maybe even more. I suppose you think that's coincidence but I'm pretty sure Summitt's condition was understood outside the TN community well before her announcement and recruits knew what was up. And Davis has backed out on her verbal.

But you think somehow DD with all her UConn connections is going to TN?
the chances of DD going to tennessee range somewhere between very unlikely and slim-to-none.

now, the fact that she's not yet verballed to UCONN may indicate she's still not made up her mind yet and i know there are other schools who are pursuing her actively. i guessd we will see when she makes her decision.

I think Maryland is after Diamond aggressively as well. I think she will make her decision when she is ready and I hope its UCONN, but if not she will be a star wherever she goes.

Everyone has said Diamond is a Uconn lock for years I don't see what has changed. She has more friends who have verballed like Stewart and Jefferson. I think she just likes being recruited so she stays uncommitted but in reality I don't see her considering many schools. Some schools may give up because they assume she could be down to Uconn and maybe 1 or 2 more schools. I'll throw out a guess 70% Uconn odds 15% Tenn 10% Maryland 5% UNC this is completely a guess with some outdated information and just putting some pieces together.

She also tweets positive things during uconn games and always retweets jouranlists on the husky beat who tweet about her, you never see her do that about other teams. do other teams writers even cover recruits as much as ours do? big bonus there with added attention!

An addendum to my previous post but this tweet came up from Diamond. I only really hear about her being a future Lady Husky but knowing who the competition is has been tough because no one talks about other schools. This tweet was about Maryland:

Chase Brooks @DMVBBallScoop
GBB: Per @KeilMoore, UMD staff was in ATL to see their #1 uncommitted target @Hi_iMDiAMOND_22 . They are making Atlanta their 2nd home

Doesn't Maryland play Duke tomorrow? Instead of getting ready for that game they are traveling to watch high school kids play when they could do it later. Interesting tactic, on one hand it could impress the kid but on the other hand if they lose tomorrow they will look foolish for sitting in Norcross instead of going over film or scouting reports back at their campus. Regardless it sounds like UMD is putting up a fight if they are visiting her that much.
