Don't see it happening, but there will be plenty of upset people including ESPN if it does happen. If it does happen, then ESPN would get the UConn vs Tenn match up

And how much money would they lose in Bridgeport. And how likely Bridgeport would ever trust the NCAA and enter a bid ever again, especially, when helping to bail out the NCAA. I don't think so.

Ice makes a lot of sense...which the NCAA has shown precious little of lately
.
Just suppose there is a segment of the group that wants to give UConn a little kick when it "might " be down
Just go by the rules...For ND, a locale in Connecticut is like a home game these days.
And to play Tennessee and maybe even Delaware...I'd happily go.

WCBB loses money. They need UConn and Tenn with their large fan bases and imo need to cater to them because of the money they will make. UConn will be in Storrs and Bridgeport because of the money and Tenn will be close to Tenn. NCAAs are all about making money. Did you know that UConn tickets prices are the highest in WCBB. Move UConn to Norfolk and see how many UConn fans travel????? Not many. More money for tickets and more fannies in the seats and more interest in WCBB. The flame is burning bright at UConn and Tenn the NCAA dosnt want to put it out, they want to milk it.

They didn't cater to TN a few years ago. University of TN at Chattanooga hosted the first two rounds but UTC didn't get in. They should have sent TN there and it would have been a big draw. Instead they sent TN out of state and further away. 4 other schools came to Chattanooga and none of them had many fans. UTC lost money and have said they don't want to host again. I do think UCONN will get Bridgeport though.

And that financial loss is part of what makes the argument all the stronger now.

Does anyone have any idea how many tickets remain unsold in Bridgeport?

What would the NCAA gain besides an empty arena.
Not only will they lose money, it would be a very long while before Bridgeport ever bid again. Do they want to take that chance?

My wife made the same geographic observation, but came to the same conclusion as everyone here.

Rules suit the committee when they suit them, and not so much other times. There is no advantage to sending UConn away from Bridgeport.

I doubt ESPN cares. There are seasons where they might, but the truth is that - to the extent they care at all - all they theorectically really want is UConn to make the Final 4. And that is likely regardless of where.

Was that article written by a third grader? His or her reading of the guideline for placement does not require that you automatically pick a site for the higher seed based on a 37 mile difference of two sites that are a few hundred miles away.

Not everyone should be allowed to write articles.

That site frequently publishes dumb articles. I passed on reading it as soon as I saw who was publishing it.

So, even if it's just a 40-mile difference in travel for the Irish, why should UConn -- the team with the worst record among the four presumptive No. 1 seeds -- be the only one given the privilege of playing on its home turf, in-state and just a little over an hour's drive away from Gampel Pavilion even if you account for all the stopping for tolls on New England's much-beloved turnpikes?

Gee, Lee. You should get out more. There haven't been tolls on the CT Turnpike in quite a while.
BTW -- Hard to believe you couldn't find something more relevant/important to write about when it comes to the Tourney bracketing. From the tone of the article you knew -- just like everyone else did -- that UConn would go to Bridgeport.
