Maybe to make back court fouling by teams with"fouls to give" less attractive?
Dunno, maybe... I just don't like that idea, sounds like a gimmack. Kinda like if they gave football teams the ball at the 50 in the last two minutes (I know, don't give Goodell any ideas...). Might as well let them do it the entire game, but I'd rather that they don't do it at all. Unless maybe make them spend an extra timeout for the privilege?

It's simply an artificial gimmick to make finishes more exciting. It may accomplish that - but it really isn't fair. Why not make shots from beyond the arc worth 6 points in the final minute? That would also make for more exciting finishes.

Only thing is it won't really affect UCONN much. We've had what, one close game in the past 2 years?

Maybe make halfcourt shots in the last minute worth 30 points. Then you might get an exciting finish.

I agree with Meyers don't see any of these rules changes having an impact on UCONN. Don't have many close games, UCONN players are conditioned to go extra time if necessary. Most of the UCONN big games are televised for which there is a built in TV timeout every 4 minutes anyway. The 4 minutes tv timeouts will/is probably been relooked by the networks anyway.

.-.

Well, although it wouldn't be impacted by this rule (no timeout called), could the rule make THIS any more exciting?

Don't fix what ain't broken.

Good news for the Tenn coaching staff. They can use the extra time between quarters to emphasize rebounding.
