Lunardi literally doesn't know who James Bouknight is. He's one of the least accurate 'bracketologists' when it comes to seeding. 11-2 when fully healthy while winning 10 of those games by double digits. Those are Gonzaga-like numbers.

.-.
Do these bracketologists get graded or ranked based off of their accuracy? There are always terrible seedings in the tournament that make no sense at the time and make no sense now

In fairness to Lunardi, Bracket Matrix has UConn as a 9 seed at the moment. There is a lag of about a day or two as brackets are tabulated, but that's about where consensus is at the moment. Obviously a win today moves them up a line or two minimum.

True but Bracketology is basically a Lunardi invention so he should be a leader not a follower.....the numbers for UConn universally require a 7 seed at minimum.....which should be the floor regardless of tonight.

Any 8/9 seed talk for UConn should be off the table at this point.

Haha not just a 9 seed the worst 9 seed in the tournament because he has us going against the overall number 1 in possible second round match-up!

To be fair, the worst 9 seed should be paired with the best 8 seed, which should flow to the worst 1 seed. So I'd argue that he has us as the best 9 seed. Not that any of this really matters.

He always claims a crazy success rate on his last bracket before selection sunday..once all the direct bids are known and only 2-3 questions remain....earlier in the process..probably not so good

The knock on us is that we have no real marquee wins (other than USC, who folks also treat as being worse than their metrics). A win tonight against Creighton would fix that.
Yup.

We should root for GTown winning over Seton Hall in a blowout and getting their NET from 81 to better than 75. That would net us an additional Q1 win (move the Q3 to Q2 and Q2 to Q1).

I mean let's look at an example of how lazy Lunardi must be. He still has Oklahoma as a 7 seed. Let's compare numbers:

NET: Uconn (28) Oklahoma (37)
KenPom: Uconn (17) (Oklahoma (38)
BPI: Uconn (15) (Oklahoma 31)

It's not even DEBATABLE.

This used to piss me off so much when I cared about it more. He’d claim this 99% success rate when the whole bracket was basically known. Now he’s proven himself to be an clown not worth paying attention to. Just like the network he works for.

Oklahoma quadrants
5-90-04-16-0
UConn quadrants
3-33-36-03-0

Oklahoma WAB/SOR/KPI avg: 39
UConn WAB/SOR/KPI avg: 28

So we've been playing great, but we've not exactly been beating powerhouses, which explains all the 8/9 seeds in these brackets. Winning tonight would put that to rest.

Let’s not go crazy here. Gonzaga is 26-0 with most their wins as blowouts.

More importantly, do these guys actually watch the teams?

He's like any company first to market with a new product or service............instant aura of respectability and/or quality until it becomes evident to even the "casual fans" that you're as good a coach as 'ole Roy and as valuable as a UNC degree in Afro and African-American studies.

I know it's not nice to criticize Gonzaga, but all their quality wins were fairly early, especially Kansas and West Virginia, so it will be interesting to see if the usual failure in the tournament rears its ugly head again.

That’s fair. I was thinking the same thing. However, they did win them....they have beaten everyone on their schedule. Gotta give credit where credit is due.

They continue to struggle to get top teams to schedule them.

Oklahoma has now lost 5 or 6, including a loss to 9-20 Kansas State. Oklahoma struggled with 2-22 ISU Wednesday and got their wheels blown off in the first half to Kansas (who isn't great this year) last night. They are inconsistent as inconsistent comes.

1 common opponent: @ Xavier. We won by 8. Oklahoma lost by 22 and gave up 100 points.
