Not to mention the “most underrated greatest coach of all time”, he also stated “that the program Calhoun built at Uconn was the single most greatest achievement of all time in college basketball”.

Just goes to show you why Uncle Mikey is the best in the business and why Jim Calhoun is the greatest of all time (not to mention his domination of coach K).

I miss him dearly!!

I'll miss Mike. He and JC started off bad but grew to respect each other. I'll never forget Mike and Chris coming on the air the night we won our first championship. Today he was on the topic of college basketball currently having a "black eye" from the FBI
Investigation and how the UCLA/ China incident made it worse.

I couldn't agree more. To do what JC did, against the other big east programs is astounding.

No one did more with less.

He was the cunning fox, there will never be another like him.

We were very fortunate and blessed to have him.

I listen every day even though he jumped the shark when Mad Dog left. He's old and cranky but still the king.

I remember the times when afternoon's on the FAN pretty much dictated sports news and Mikey Boy always had love for UCONN hoops and Coach Calhoun.

I'll miss this dude when he signs off in a few weeks, no doubt.

I really wish Ricky didnt get hurt as a freshman. We beat Miss St and we play Kentucky in the finals. I dont care how good that Kentucky team was. We beat them and Pitino never wins his first.

My avatar says what I think

Jim Calhoun is UCONN, he made UCONN, we are who we are because of Jimmy C

I remember in the 90's when some people argued we needed a coach who can win the big one, and I would laugh thinking the only reason those people are UCONN fans today is because of Jim Calhoun's success

For those of us watching Hrubala & Staack & Boyd play URI & UMASS on CPTV when we were kids knew better, we had our man

Francesa is a blowhard, but he's definitely had some great moments. Nothing beats a few years ago when he said Calipari was a great recruiter but not a great in-game coach and Calipari called in pretending to be a fan to defend himself.

Sports Pope will be missed

Uncle Mikey has the best takes in sports, hopefully he lands somewhere else in where we can listen to him often or at least once a week.

WFAN is in big trouble, especially if the reports are right & they are bringing in BART SCOTT to replace him, that’s embarrassing..

Best in the business...

- Uncle Mikey
- Colin Cowherd
- Mad Dog Russo (more so because of his personality)

While I appreciate his sentiments, his grammar is abominable.

"Great big game coach..." It would be one thing if we beat one dimension-able coaches like Boeheim but Calhoun out coached the legends of college basketball in big games.

And a legend of the NBA in the making.

That was beautiful.

For better or worse, my friends and I would race home after school to listen, and then watch, mike and the mad dog.

Especially during a big early 00's Sox/Yanks series.

During that call in Francessa suddeny started babbling about Krzgiueeskki and the caller brought him back to Jim. Funny.

And then he ended by taking about how he and JC are good friends. It's always about him.

But I appreciate the nice words about Calhoun. He's right, obviously!

The one time I called the show was to make the case for JC before Mike had his epiphany. The screener virtually cross-examined me before he put me on hold. A few minutes later, Mad Dog started talking up JC using the exact points I gave the screener. I wonder how often that happened.

Of course he confused the Duke and Georgia Tech games in the 2004 Final Four. Okafor was in foul trouble in the Duke game, not the Georgia Tech game.

And yes, I agree with Nomar. It's always about him.

I always liked Mike...you just have to know when to turn him off. He's 100% right about Calhoun. He was the god of MBB coaches.

When Fatso respects someone he really goes all out to be complimentary of that person. Even though Francesa has been dreadful the last few years and he's clearly mailed it in (had him on the other day and he didn't know how to pronounce Frank Ntilikina's last name - kept calling him Nickalina), he will be missed. Guy was a huge part of the 90s NYC sports scene.
