Francensa on Johnnies

Didn't listen to much but did hear him say how UConn was switching like they haven't all year.

I repeat ask - has Hurley held out on stuff intentionally? Between the switching, shutting down the high hedge, running transition - they were doing things in this game that we really haven't seen all year. Kudos to him if he's that good a coach he can run vanilla stuff for the bulk of the year to only flip on a dime in game 28.

I had no clue he's still around. Holy cr@p his whole dentures with veneers setup is incredibly distracting to listen to and look at.

We were still doing some of the high hedge but we were switching a lot more because St. John's was attacking us so badly 1 on 1 in the first matchup. We never let them get a full head of steam going to the basket last night. We kept slowing them down when they would try and then Tarris could come over for blocks and disruption.

Hurley is uber-competitive so I don't think he would intentionally withhold anything earlier in the season. These seasons are too short for that. I read this morning that Kimani was the assistant that had the scout for this game. I would suspect that this was a change from the first game.

Last 2 games does make you wonder. Can’t imagine it, but I keep having flashbacks of Novas kids totally flustered in the second half and thinking, have not seen that in quite awhile. What changed? We seemed to be sliding off a cliff and 2 games later we are on top of the mountain.

He says we are a 3 seed, and may have played ourselves into a 2 seed if we keep winning. But reiterates that we are a 3. Then says we have no shot at a 1.

And he says it with conviction, like don't even doubt him.

I listened to Francesa (and Dog when they were together) religiously during his entire FAN career. Haven’t gotten into the podcast. He likes to pretend he knows what he’s talking about when it comes to college sports, but he legitimately has no idea.

That’s him, Mr. know it all. This was a brutally honest takedown of St.John’s performance and team shortcomings. I enjoyed it. Now he doesn’t think UConn can maintain that to win a championship. I personally don’t care about the seed to a point. Just bring that defensive intensity to every meaningful game and I will take my chances against anyone, Michigan and Duke included.

To top it off, he says that StJ can be a 4 seed. So Uconn is a 3 seed making it's way to a 2, but StJ can be a 4 seed. So these two teams are 1.5 seeds apart?

I honestly cannot stand blinders no matter what fan base.

Being in the hinterlands, I haven't heard him in years. I was enjoying it until he proved he still doesn't do his research by saying UConn lost big to Pitt and not L'ville right before tourney time. But as I said in the post-game thread, the first 10 minutes or so were about as damning a damnation of the Johnnies as it gets.

I had to shut it off after a couple minutes because of all the clicking and smacking coming from his mouth but Francesa has never known a thing about college hoops or hoops in general.

He's into horses so maybe he knows some stuff about horse racing.

St. Johns is probably a 6 seed after last night. Could even argue a 7. Their resume is thin.

Still laughing at Seth Davis and Andy Katz who both ranked St. Johns ahead of UConn. These guys get paid for this...
Those two know about as much college basketball as Francesa.

Francesa talking hoops is always hilarious, I remember years back when the Cavs and Warriors were having their NBA Finals matchups and Francesa was arguing that Steph and Kyrie weren't close to Bob Cousy as ballhandlers. Dudes like that need to be put out to pasture.

I used to listen to them every day too. They started to lose me when they devoted hours to quizzing each other about Nielsen ratings of random games in all sports.

Also, their focus on horse racing and boxing. Appealed to maybe 2% of the listening audience.

Where do you find who had the scout for an upcoming game? Is it possible to see who had the scout responsibilities on the past games this year?

He’s a St. John’s graduate so he has those blinders but he wasn’t wrong about them and their flaws and he’s right that they need another matchup with UConn to get any confidence back to work for themselves in the tourney. We’ll see if he’s right about our will to bring the intensity every game. We actually until the last 2 games have not done it consistently. I think it’s a mind game with Tarris and he turned a corner. Loved how he passed out of double teams when they came. Starting to get it!

I know Norlander mentioned it this morning in his article.

The number of times his predictions are wrong is only rivaled by the weather people.

I’d didnt even know he had a pod…and now I know and won’t listen again He’s def lost his fastball.

Mike and the Mad dog were good back in the day but Mike has always been a little irritating.

Craig Carton is back on the air. He's got a point about the cell phones

He needs to give up the mic and join an anonymous yankees message board already
