Hi,

My family and I used to be able to watch games through the Fox Sports App. A few games ago, the feed cutout near the end of the 3rd quarter and it said this game is not available for streaming. Today, it is saying the same thing from the beginning. Is there anybody else having this problem. We have already watched games this year on the Fox Sports App that were on SNY?

I’m having the same problem in Durham, NC. Can’t get it on my iPad or iPhone either.

The Help page for Fox Sports also provides a pop-up option (lower right side of screen) to link and chat with an IT support person . I had to resort to that once a couple of years ago when I was having trouble. They were very nice and suggested I open the app in a private window, rather than a regular window. That has done the trick for me ever since.

Join the club. I've not been able to watch SNY going on 2 years, whereas I was always able to once upon a time. Being excluded from SNY is a kind of euthanasia: you are mostly unable to watch games that few sane people would. Today is a good example.
Find an engaging book. Maybe next year we'll be able to see whatever we want (or don't).

I have been experiencing the same issues for all of the SNY games. Today I think the issue was more that if yo are in the CT market they figured out how to do a “blackout” of the game. I’ve had exchanges with both Fox sports tech support and YouTube tv tech support. They point the finger at each other as to whose problem it is. Today was a new problem for me. I’ve experienced the case of being able to watch a little over half of the game and then it cuts out with the “not available for streaming” screen. Very frustrating. I haven’t been able to watch an SNY conference game to completion yet and I haven’t been able no hope of being able to. So far I have been watching the live stats on my iPad and listening to the radio broadcast on my phone.

No problem in the Triad, north of Greensboro.
My tv provider is Hulu Live.

No problem in SC. Started the season with Spectrum and did not have a problem. Changed to HTC last week and was able to watch today's game.

This does not directly pertain to the tech support issue raised in this thread, but it is a comment on UConn games (specifically replays) on the Fox Sports App. That app is a new discovery this year for me -- I have Comcast (which provides SNY in my package) as my TV provider, so I am able to use the Fox Sports App on my Amazon Fire device to re-watch any game that was originally broadcast on SNY or any of the Fox channels (Fox, FS1, FS2, etc.).

The replays are good enough so that they almost rival the quality of @MJL243's recordings on YouTube in previous seasons. However, there are two minor annoyances:
  • They insist on showing frequent commercials, and you cannot fast-forward through them or skip them after 5 seconds as you can on YouTube. As far as I can tell, I just have to sit through the commercials, which can be up to 2 minutes long.
  • I haven't found it easy to skip back and forth by small increments to view a particular possession for a second time (for instance). You can do it, but it seems to be very approximate, and you often end up skipping forward or back far more than you would like (and having to re-watch commercials as a result).
If anyone knows a way to address either of these issues on replays, I would appreciate hearing about them.

Also, does anyone know for what period of time replays remain available for viewing through the app? I have always tried to watch within hours or days of the actual game, but I wonder if (for example) I will still be able to watch the UConn-Southern Cal game three or four months from now.

@JoePgh you bring up very good issues with the Fox Sports App and watching replays. I have suffered in silence ever since You Tube was no longer available to watch an SNY replays.
Thank you.

If this can help anyone -- I have been using a VPN and accessing the Fox Sports website using a windows computer hooked up to a widescreen. The VPN's IP address is Washington DC, and I had no problems watching the last couple of SNY games live through Fox Sports. I am logged into the Fox Sports website via my YouTube TV account.

I started seeing something similar this year. A bit more than half way through games I get a message that my trial or intro has ended and to sign in through my cable provider. I click the box, a list of providers pops up and I pick my provider and watch the rest of the game. At most, I think I might miss 30 seconds of game time during the switch. No new fees or anything like that.

I live in MA; but my cable and internet provider are in New York. SNY is not available to me on my cable TV In MA. The Fox App on my smart TV thought I was in NY and would not let me watch SNY games on the Fox App. Meanwhile the Fox Sports App on my iPad and iPhone realized I was in MA and let me watch. Go figure that one out. A couple of years later the Fox App on my smart TV suddenly realized that I was indeed in MA and let me access the UConn SNY games.

Reading through all of these there is the unavoidable feeling that we are on a one-way trip to having to pay for services we used to take for granted or part of a subscription package.

SNY to my knowledge doesn't offer a direct subscription but it is available as part of sports packages I have with Comcast for additional $ of course (I'm embarrassed to say how much I now pay for the Comcast package) - plus since I live within the tri-state SNY territory I have no problem getting SNY broadcasts. However, when I do the snow bird thing and travel to Florida in the winter is where I run into problem. I usually end up watching the games on YouTube through a poor quality pirate video after the fact.

Maybe some on here have found a better way but I am left with the idea that I will just need to cough up more $ to be able to watch live. Hulu does offer SNY outside of the SNY tri-state broadcast territory but again need to pay a lot monthly to subscribe. Throughout all of this it comes down to this: if you want unrestricted sports coverage no matter where you are you will probably find a service somewhere to offer it but at a high monthly price. If any are able to avoid that "got-ya" and find a way around paying out huge $ I will be interested.

(Jackalope, I'll give your idea a try although again looks like I will need to buy another streaming service like Hulu. FYI: I may be wrong but it's my understanding that SNY is no longer offered on YouTube TV but maybe that is not a problem since you access it through Fox Sports on YouTube TV.)

Where are you getting this information from? I live outside of the SNY tri state territory and SNY isn't offered as part of my Hulu Live subscription.

I know that this isn't related to the issue where fans can't get SNY games via the Fox Sports App, but today was the first time in a long time where I was kicked out of the app and returned to my XBox home page at least 4 times, maybe 5.
Was I the only one with issues this afternoon?

Correct. I access the games through Fox Sports using my Youtube tv account to sign up. The VPN I use is set to Washington DC, and I haven't had a problem watching the games.

I was told if is labelled as Fox Extra, then it will not be on the Fox Sports App in my area. Luckily, an hour after the game, they are available for a full replay.

I watch on the Uzzu app. I get the pregame and post game shows and all the GENO shows... i can only watch live and cannot record.
Include is all NFL, NHL, NBA and all the regional sports networks. $120 a year. Go to Uzzu.com to check it out

How can someone, not already a subscriber, see what sports/networks are actually streamed? I did not see anything about coverage of the NCAA.

My situation is exactly like yours, though I don’t need to use a VPN. I live in New Mexico and get YouTubeTV and this allows me to sign into the FoxSports app on my TV and watch all SNY broadcasts.

Currently, SNY broadcasts can be viewed on the FoxSports app, though this may be limited by location. If you actually live in the SNY broadcast zone, you may not be able to get it through the FoxSports app. But, then, why would you need to, since SNY may be directly available as a channel on your cable service. No need to go through the FoxSports workaround then. However, if your cable provider refuses to carry SNY, then you’re out of luck. If that’s the case, you might have to change cable providers or resort to rabbit ears.

For folks who live outside the SNY coverage area, or are handy with a VPN, life is much simpler. Any cable service that caries the Fox channels, like FS1, will make it possible for you to log into the FoxSports app and watch SNY sports programming. When people recommend YouTubeTV or HuluLive, they’re relying on the fact that these are like cable providers and thus enable you to log into the FoxSports app.

If you have a subscription to Fox and FS1 you can watch all of SNY's broadcast of UConn woman's basketball live on the FoxSports app. It's an agreement in the Big East and Fox broadcasting contract.

I don't have it but my understanding is a HULU + Live TV subscription for $82.99/mo carries SportsNetNY (SNY) as part of its plan but not in all areas.

And my understanding is that Hulu Live only offers SNY to subscribers that live in the SNY broadcast territory and does not offer SNY to subscribers that live outside of the SNY broadcast territory. You posted earlier that SNY is offered outside of the SNY broadcast territory.

They have all the networks, 3 ESPNs, FS1&2, Big 10, ACC, SEC networks. All the local regional networks. Where else would they be??

Has anyone noticed that the replay of the UConn-Marquette game that is available on the Fox Sports app starts late in the first quarter with the scored tied at 12-12? The first 7 or 8 minutes of the game are not included. I have to think that this was just a careless error by someone who was not paying attention to when the actual game started -- at least I hope so.

I did notice that too. But they didn't have any problems with showing all their ads. :)

This may have already been pointed out, but FoxSports (android tv viewing) often does not include what they call "Fox-Digital" in their upcoming programs listing until the day before the game or even early on game day. Today it is listed.... yesterday nothing.
