I was thinking about this just the other day and I agree.

Was the last real international player Niels?

Bobby Hurley certainly has foreign connections. It’ll be interesting to see when Dan tries to bring talent in from overseas.

I think Amida came out of a Miami High School, if I recall correctly.

Our last kid was that German shooter who transferred. He came in after Niels. I forget his name.

I assume the process of foreign recruiting is extremely time consuming even with connections. Programs like Gonzaga seem to focus solely on foreign recruiting, with only some west coast recruits. I think it’s tough to do only some recruiting overseas without putting in lots of resources (which UConn doesn’t seem to have), otherwise why aren’t tons of other top programs recruiting overseas?

My avatar is an effort to keep Tolksdorf relevant. MASSIVE piece of the team.

Thats just going back to the turn of the century.

Even @tcf15 wouldn't have highlight reels for them!
Chad Wise once hustled for an entire possession with only one shoe! Unfortunately I can't bring you the video because it was a preseason game, but here's the Courant.

Why do I remember this? What the hell is wrong with me?

True, Miami - Hobbs recruited him.

I was at American University in DC while Tolksdorf was there. It's a small campus so I saw him around all the time chatted with him pretty frequently about UConn, the 2014 team, KO, etc. Nice guy.
His family was nice too. They came over and he actually played.

Thabeet? Really? Both he and Brimah did not have a natural b'ball gene in their bodies. Yes, they could intimidate and block shots, but beyond that (shooting, FTs and good hands) they had nothing to help.

I would take another Neils or "Dove" in a heartbeat..
