Football Assistant Roles

Can someone update this thread so it is easier to find?

For some reason, this thread is not refreshing to the top when someone posts. I didn’t think we had a thread going for assistant coaches.

I have it filtered so that the most recent message shows on top, but for some reason this particular thread is hard to find. It’s an important thread, so I’m just wondering if everyone can see it.

Just a guess on my part but I'll be surprised if Blackwell doesn't end up as RB coach. He's done that at quite a few schools and has been that exclusively since 2020.

A few high end CBs and Safeties in the portal from Oregon St. Just saying.

With the impressive diversity of high-end assistants that Candle has been able to bring here, I would imagine we will end up with some pretty impactful players out of the portal when it's all said and done.

Since there are so many coaching changes it would be cool if there were a cheat-sheet listing the coaches and their most recent jobs to see where they are all coming from

Early Chance bios reveal he’s a Mansfield, MA native and URI alumnus (4 yr starter, ‘01-‘05). Before briefly returning to Rhody in 2013 as a CB coach, he coached 4 seasons with big FBS player producer Alpharetta, GA high school before a few GA seasons with Vanderbilt (‘13-‘15).

Then, a few seasons with FCS Southern Utah (‘16-‘17). Last year, Asst Coach/DC.

Subsequently, multiple P4 assistant roles: Oregon (‘18 and ‘20-‘21), Minnesota ‘19, Colorado ‘22, break ‘23, Oregon St ‘24-‘25.

Also, a cousin/ Connecticut alum Robbie Vaughan played with the Huskies (‘06-‘10).

LaTroy Lewis background:

Akron native; Tennessee football DL ‘12-‘16, 3 pro seasons ‘17-‘20 (Raiders, Texans, Titans, XFL Houston); GA Akron ‘20-‘21 and South Alabama ‘21; ST analyst Wake ‘21-‘22; LB & Asst DL GA with Michigan ‘22-‘24; Toledo DL coach ‘25.

Offensive side of the staff looks very strong. Those d3 guys coming up from Mt Union always intrigue me. Wide Receivers coach seems like he could be a nice pickup too

Are we getting a LB coach? don't actually see one mentioned yet...

Not sure, good question, but our DC was a LB coach so if I had to guess he will be handling that position.

there is an assistant coach posting that ends the 7th so they still might get one. There is also an assistant strength and conditioning coach and football analyst/assistant posting up as well
