Football Assistant Roles

Jeezus jumped up Christmas...having coaching staff leave after 4 years to avoid a rebuild is one thing, but having new staff leave after 1 week during the rebuild reeks of a vicious smack to the face that even Krampusschlap would say is brutal. I was hoping the news of this from earlier this week was wrong.
This is the way college football (and basketball) works. Coaches move constantly and he probably got a substantial raise to move.

Just bad timing, this is a year with massive staff turnover across the country so transitions are going to be choppy and less straightforward. You have to also avoid P4 landmines who are also building their staff as well while taking advantage of instability.

We had this under Mora too where people left to NFL or P4 roles before they even started here but in the end it is going to be hard to stop it when these guys have connections to the new coaches at these jobs. At least if people are leaving they are going to places that are above us in the college football landscape and he took the same position at a B10 school there was no chance we would be able to compete at this time and place

Anybody have any updates/heard whispers/rumors on who's going to run our defense?

General Manager for Football job posted yesterday:

JOB SUMMARY

The University of Connecticut is seeking applications and nominations for the position of General Manager for Football.

The General Manager (GM) for Football at the University of Connecticut (UConn) must be a visionary leader responsible for the football program's comprehensive management, innovation, and strategic direction. This role demands a proven track record in initiating and implementing innovative projects, functioning as an intrapreneur within the athletics department and the greater UConn system. The GM will establish and lead key departments, including analytics, personnel and talent evaluation, and corporate partnerships, ensuring the football program remains at the forefront of collegiate athletics.
Intrapreneur - that’s a word? Egads.

This hire is as important as the HC hire. And likely to go to a less experienced, less qualified candidate, unfortunately. Hope for the best with this kid. Based on the job description, it is a bear.

Isn't Sac State (awful name to call it...) where Connor Stutz came from?
Our new GM is smart to get out of there.

Sac State applied to go FBS, left the Big Sky before they had assurances from the NCAA, then had their application to move to FBS denied by the NCAA. Now they are stuck as an FCS independent and their local friends in the Big Sky have no interest in scheduling them.

Last I saw they only had 5 games on the books for next season. They are so desperate for games they are taking a 3000 mile trip to Orono, Maine in November.

Great get for the Black Bears, though!

Yup, in large organizations and dictionaries for a few to several decades.
Let's have fun with Venn diagrams, my Christmas gift to the Boneyard. 🎅🎄

He spent one year at Kent State:

Toughest G6 jobs per The Athletic:

1. Kent State

Points: 100
First-place votes: 6
Last winning season: 2020

The Golden Flashes removed the interim tag from Mark Carney in late October. He won five games this season, and that should be viewed as a major step forward considering Kent State won just one game over the previous two seasons.

Sean Lewis, currently the head coach at San Diego State, went 24-31 at Kent State from 2018 through 2022, and he was considered a miracle worker.

There’s no real history of success. The resources are lacking, as is the commitment. And there are several losses baked into the schedule every season because the program has to play so many “buy” games against P4 powers — the Golden Flashes played Texas Tech, Florida State and Oklahoma this season.

“Virtually impossible,” a G5 personnel staffer said.
