My mom lives in Cape Coral. Her house had some damage but got a couple of inches of water in it. That's the thing that screws up everything. It was only a couple of inches but carpets are all soaked, walls, cabinets, furniture etc. it almost all has to go. Because everybody is in the same situation can't get insurance adjuster out, can't get anyone out to dry the place out/remove the carpets etc, can't find close by conditioned storage to put furniture and even if you could can't find men/trucks etc. to get it there. A big waiting game and as of last night still had no power. Tough situation but many have it way worse.

Thanks. We live in Lakehouse Cove in Waterside, have hurricane impact windows, generator and hurricane blinds for lanai were already on order, but still would have left town, was concerned about major flooding and I’m a wimp.

Have friends who live near you, also never lost power, their theory is power stays on because of proximity to SMH.
They buried our power and fiber last summer. Before that we had issues
