Florida St @ Louisville - 1/21/18

Uh oh. One of the announcers just made a comment about Shakayla Thomas being the best athlete in women's basketball. I think she was quoting a coach, didn't hear which coach. Probably some UConn fans would disagree.

I was looking forward to this game, but it's 10-2 Louisville 5 minutes in and might turn into a blow out right away.

22-9 after 1Q. Louisville looks impressive again.

I'm not sure how good Baylor and Texas are, but I think UConn/Louisville/Mississippi St. are separating themselves from most of the rest of the field significantly.

Notre Dame is still dangerous of course.

Florida St. fighting back, now 26-18 halfway thru the 2Q.

I think that’s spot on. Could someone else crash the party? Yes. But I like these three as being a cut or two above the rest of them.

She was quoting waltz

Louisville kinda stunk in Q2. Leading 32-26 at halftime. Durr is cold shooting today. I'm a big fan of consistency. Seems like even most of the best players this year and fairly up and down in their performances.

38-37 Louisville, 1:26 left in Q3. Cardinals have hardly scored since Q1. Not looking like the same team that whooped Notre Dame.

38-38 at the end of 3. Louisville looks like the bad Louisville. Too much 1 on 1. No movement on offense. Durr shooting 3-15.

42-38 FSU a couple minutes into the 4th. Louisville has scored 16 points in the last 22 minutes.

.-.
Louisville hit a 3 to retake the lead. FSU anwers w/ a 3. Up 2, 50 seconds left.

Louisville has the ball back w/ a chance to tie or win, 21 sec. left. Pretty disappointing game for #2 vs. #12, mostly just a lot of missed shots.

Louisville throws the ball away. FSU w/ possession, 10 sec. left.

No more TO for the Cards, 2 for FSU. Cards turnover, 10.0 secs, still 49-47

.-.
Hit 1 of 2 FTs, Louisville still ahs a chance.

50-49 final, Louisville falls from the ranks of the unbeaten.

.-.
Very disappointing result. I was hoping for a 1 vs 2 when we met Louisville. :(

A bad game for Louisville, no one is exempt including UConn. Everybody can have a bad game once in a while. A one point win for Florida State. Asia durr with only 11 points, not one of her better days.
And then there were two.

UConn and ND are the only two ranked teams today that outscored their opponents every quarter.
Reflection of the opposition's quality as a team? Both losing teams were waaay overmatched "on paper". Were any of the other ranked teams in a similar position?

Quite a few higher-ranked teams losing games today. I suppose we can expect to see the top 5 of the AP poll look something like this tomorrow:
  1. UConn
  2. Miss St
  3. Baylor
  4. Louisville
  5. Notre Dame
After that, it becomes a bit of a mess. #6 Tennessee lost two games to Notre Dame and Mississippi State, #7 Oregon lost to Oregon State, and #8 Ohio State lost to Michigan. Does this mean that #9 Texas could move all the way up to #6?

The rest of the top 10 might look something like this:
6. Texas
7. Tennessee
8. Florida State
9. South Carolina
10. Missouri/Oregon
