There are a lot of schools with good histories. The landscape is littered with them. Until the mid 70s, Duke would have been considered one of the better fball schools. Heck, Yale was even ranked in the top 20 as late as the early 1980s. But it's been a long while now for Duke and Pitt. Put it this way, if UConn bball goes on a 15 year run of losing, if we start losing regularly to Tulane, what are people going to say about the program? Will they note the past success, or will they emphasize instead the likelihood that the program will remain in the doldrums. Any honest assessment of northeastern football must take into account that these three programs have IMMENSE challenges when it comes to football, and outside of conference affiliation, Cuse has no advantages over UConn.
