Principle residence in The Villages, but currently watching hurricane coverage from seasonal residence in the Vegas area. Have a brother in Palm Harbor (Tampa area) and it looks like he dodged a bullet compared to earlier projected paths, and my parents had significant hurricane damage in Cape Coral from Charlie, back in 2004, so it is like Deja Vue for that area getting hit very hard.

The Orlando area then looked like Ian was heading their way, but now it looks like it is bending a little further east and of course moving forward so slow that the wind speeds are decreasing over land and will probably be a weaker category 1 or tropical storm by the time it gets that far north.

Millions without power, tons of rain and flooding, and plenty of property and surge damage near the point of entry on the west coast. The cost will be huge and I'm sure all Florida residents will see a big bump in their home-owners insurance, but whenever you are in the "cone" in the early stages and the path finally moves a little away from your area, you can't help but feel a sigh of relief. Best wishes to all affected.
I was already informed of a 150% increase in my premiums in early September. Not a good time to be shopping around for another policy. I am in Rockledge on Space Coast mainland.

30 mins north of Tampa, very little rain/wind overnight. Today windy and cool. We got very lucky as if Ian had passed thru Tampa Bay, our outcome would be very different.

I'm just east of Tampa. Lots of wind and rain but nothing compared to those 50 miles south.

The winds have died down but the rain continues. Our community, Solivita, seems to be in very good shape. Has far as I know, we did not lose power. There is some minor flooding in spots. Seems a few trees were blown over.

Kissimmee has had some serious flooding in areas.

Rockledge has no real issues. I received about 5 inches of rain yesterday but fortunately no flooding. I did have a tornado warning around 2PM yesterday which warned of tornado touching down in a rural area of Southwest Brevard. Just a lot of palm fronds to clean up in my yard.

My wife's family is in central Florida (Ocala and Clermont.) They seemed to come through okay. I'm in the Carolina's (near Charlotte) and we're about to get it, but not as severe as Florida (I don't think.) Some on East coast will have it worse.

My house came out of the storm just fine -- although there is extensive flooding elsewhere in Oviedo and other parts of Seminole County.

The contrast between the hurricane weather, and today, is surreal. It's been gorgeous here today; right now it's 79 degrees and still sunny, with no chance of more rain until maybe next Thursday. Hard to believe on a day like this that such widespread devastation occurred only two days ago. So many Floridians still need your prayers.

Here are some Central Florida rainfall amounts:
