Well, the next scheduled game is 2/29 in Gampel. After a 16-point win on the road, a home game should yield a similar result at worst. A subsequent UConn-USF game would be in the AAC tourney in Mohegan (quite likely) and in Bridgeport during the NCAA regionals (less likely).

In short, no team has defeated the same team four times in one season, but at least it'd be three in-state games if they were played. If there were a Game 3 in Mohegan, would it be like the BET loss to Villanova in 2003? 39 straight wins in 2001-02 followed by 31 in 2002-03 before a loss to a team with a perpetually problematic style of play results in the streak snapping at 70. Coul this be like 37 straight in 2014-15, followed by 30 or 31 more in 2015-16 before facing perpetually problematic USF in the AAC tourney? Could result in he streak snapping at 67-69 games.

Of course, I'll happily take a repeat of the results of the 2003 NCAA Tourney in 2016. Despite the clutch play of Diana, Annie, Turner, Conlon, etc., I doubt Uconn has a similarly tough run through the 2016 tourney...

Wondering how those who thought it was ri.di.cu.lous. are feeling post the USF game.

Don't know what will happen when the teams meet again (with career rebounding leader Alisia Jenkins healthy), but I'm intrigued... ;-)

Considering it was the 3rd game in 5 days, all on the road, I'm pretty confident that the margin at home will be 20+. As for Jenkins, keep in mind that Butler played 1 minute and Chong not at all. There's no reason to believe that in another month and a half that Butler won't be getting 15+ minutes routinely. USF is a very solid team and there are many teams in the top 25 they would beat, but they're not nearly at Conn's level just yet.

UConn won by fundamental. USF scored 59 pts by 2 players' out performances.
I would say fundamental always wins.

Interesting prediction but it's just not going to happen. I agree with all the points made above by alex, johnnyc, and toadfoot. Plus, UConn is just better.

The better team doesn't always win. Geno told them that "Only had to be better tonight" when they faced Notre Dame in the FF semi's a few years ago. Granted, CT/ND was an even money bet while UConn would win most of the time vs USF as they have for 18 times straight I believe. But if someone offered me 20-1 odds that USF win one by the end of the 16/17 season I'd jump on it. That Latvian freshman is scoring very efficiently. As long as they get a fully-healed Jenkins back by the AAC tourney they may be one of my dark horses to make the S16 on my bracket.

Jose should have his freshman post videos of the beach in Tampa/St Pete back to Eastern Europe. He's done a good job finding foreign talent. I'd bring recruits videos and photos of ocean, palm trees & sunshine. Not a bad way to spend a few years in your late teens if you live in economically depressed E. Europe.

If Jenkins plays who sits? OK now take away her points rebounds steals and defense on the person she defended. Now how much better will Jenkins do then her. Ok now on top of that she has to help make up 15+ points on the road and most likely without some of those dumb calls. It aint happenin.

Oh I almost forget Stewie Tuck Mojeff Chong and Butler will all be healthy this time too.

I feel still, it often sounds ridiculous whenever a professional - and she remains absolutely among the very best of her profession IMO - makes the occasional mistake of presenting mere opinion of coming events, with the certitude of a prophet. None of us are prophets, and we all know it. Instead of focusing entirely on the Bulls, as intended, now some of her audience become distracted by that particular bull. Of course, as we all know, even the best pros occasionally make unforced errors... no biggie.

I think you are wrong how you are looking at this. Completely wrong. Each game is it's own animal. USF is no longer playing at home - and next time you think Stewie is going o get in foul trouble - especially playing at home?

It is absurd USF will win. USF no longer playing at home getting favorable calls.

Please bump this thread next time we play - when we're home. And the third time too. You realize we were up by 21 points in the 4qtr on their home floor while they played well, right? Their forward/center- who is she- Maya Moore or something?

Don't think USF can score enough points to beat UConn this year. Nor is their defense good enough to stop UConn if they play their normal offense. This presumes that UConn comes into the game completely healthy. Mo, Morgan and Stewie won't let them lose to USF this year.

Next year even without Courtney Williams MIGHT be another story. It will depend on the development of Collier and Samuelson's offensive game. Both have to be more consistent and be relied upon to get almost 15+ points a game every game. Right now there not close to being able to do that. Also, they're not expected to be able to do that at this time.

A paraphrase from "The Lion in Winter":

UConn fan: USF will beat the Huskies when pigs learn to fly.
Debbie A: There'll be pork in the trees tonight.

Nah.

Awesome movie. Outstanding cast. Thanks for reminding me I need to see it again.
