Sure will be a bad look with so many empty seats for a "name" school conference game, and semester break is no excuse, especially for a program on the rise possessing a high NET ranking.
No that’s not an excuse, but there is another pretty big one that is undoubtedly having a negative impact on ticket sales.

Im sure the 8:30 start on a week night is also keeping some people away. This will most likely be the case in a couple weeks when we play Georgetown in Gampel at 8:30.

I'm sorry. You have to be friggin kidding me. You're worried about a not full stadium producing a "bad look" during an upsurge of the worst pandemic in 100 years?

Seriously, I went to Newark to see us play a month ago. You couldn't get me in an arena the next few weeks if you gave me the ticket and paid my parking and gas mileage. And if you think that makes me or anyone else a bad fan, or produces scorn in someone else's eyes, go screw yourself.

The next men's game after Wednesday at Gample is Feb. 16. I'm willing to bet the attendance at that point is close to full.

As added protection against the spread of Covid, the CDC is now recommending that people keep unfolded newspapers in front of their faces whenever possible, like the students pictured in the tweet. Preferably newspapers featuring UConn articles, in the hopes that they go viral once infected.

I was hoping that this idea died after Providence humiliated us.
Did St. John's change their nickname to just "The Storm"?

I have no idea what color that cloud is or what color its precipitation might be. Turrible.

Now, if we were playing Saint Cloud State, I wouldn't be so disappointed in that t-shirt design.

Yeah, not a lot of good options with that mascot and a black and white shirt.

I guess we should be thankful that the remaining home games this season feature teams with animal or human mascots.

They should be playing this game in Bridgeport to entice the FFC crowd.
I think a conference home game in early January in Bridgeport is a great idea. I've watched a bunch of college games recently with half filled arenas. Sure, Covid is a driver but early January games when the students haven't returned yet are always half filled. Put a conference home game in Bridgeport in early January next year to see if it a good fit.

Where are you sitting?
I'll be in attendance for the first time in a couple years. Seeing St John's will remind me of when they opened Gampel and I sat up behind the hoop on the south end, with the teams off to my left. Still have my program from that day with Calhoun, Pikiel & George on the cover.
As always, looking forward to going into the bookstore.

Even if it's not a sell out, the crowd could still be pretty strong.

Contrary to the Gampel home opener's disappointing result, may the National Flag Blue & White defeat the un-PC Redmen, Red Storm, The Storm or whatever they are from trashy Queens.

I said it somewhat tongue in cheek since it seems like someone always brings up Bridgeport or the casinos.

If they were to ever do it, this is the time frame to do it. Over break, no students, mid week.

For a moment I thought I was living a lie, remembering us coming away victorious in that opening game. A quick Google confirmed my sanity was in check.

"Gampel Pavilion first opened its doors on Jan. 27, 1990 as the men’s team defeated St. John’s, while the women’s team played its first game on Jan. 31 with a win over Georgetown."
