Let's take one game at a time
I can only hope UConn doesn't lay an egg at SMU then this place returns to doom, gloom and hating on certain players again.
The team has played well the last 5 games and have squeaked out 2 nice wins. They are getting better but the talk of tournaments - any tournament - at this time is so premature.
Yes the recent results has many dreaming but this team is capable of crashing those dreams. They are young and learning how to compete. That is a victory in my book right now. SMU is a tough place to play but is now a winnable game as is Sunday vs Memphis. But they have to be both wins before even NIT talk can begin. IMO

You guys are killing me. Killing me. We have two straight wins because we've hit 3s (finally) two straight games. We have a one game season to keep hope alive in just over 48 hours in a venue where we've been awful in this God forsaken conference. And I'm listening to hopes and predictions for 8 games out?

Some of you should be hung if we still had an active judge who gave a damn. The rest of us should be gearing up for yet another winnable but also losable must win game on Wednesday. After that one, talk to me about Memphis (and Memphis only).
1000%. Win on Wednesday.

Does a 6-2 finish to regular season and 2 wins in AAC get us on bubble?
No. Our resume is not good. We have no Q1 wins and Houston is our only chance to get one. It’s ACCT championship or else.

A couple weeks ago I said I’d be thrilled with 9 conference wins. That is now a possibility, but there’s no guarantees with this group.

We can win any game left if we play team ball and leave any late game heroics to Bouk.

I've never been so unsure of a team. Wouldn't surprise me to see us win out and win the AAC tournament. Wouldn't surprise me to go 4-4 the last 8 and lose first round of the AAC tournament. All I know is this team is good WHEN they show up. Florida, Xavier, Villanova, Wichita State, Houston, Memphis...all have been ranked teams at one point and we've hung with them all, even outplayed several of them but have nothing to show for it. If this team shows up every night the rest of the reason then a tournament bid is absolutely possible.

The talk of an NIT birth is not premature

If we lose to SMU on wednesday it's not laying an egg. Smu are difficult at their house and aren't even a bad loss.

Boneyard:
“Hope” is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -

And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard -
And sore must be the storm -
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm -

I’ve heard it in the chillest land -
And on the strangest Sea -
Yet - never - in Extremity,
It asked a crumb - of me.

I think the people saying we have no shot at an NCAA bid are absolutely wrong, but the chances are definitely incredibly slim. If we win out and secure a top 4 seed to finish 21-10, and then win 2 in Conference tourney and lose in championship, we finish at 23-11 and absolutely a shot at being a bubble team. The committee should consider all of our excruciating close losses at that point and see that we finally figured it out. We can beat almost anyone this year in a wide open NCAA field if that scenario happens. It would be brutal if we didnt get in and didnt get a chance to show that.

I only know basketball, not poetry. Is Emily Dickinson the women's basketball team at Fairleigh Dickinson?

I cast you as Woody Allen. Seems to fit.

Yeah I’m just not there with projecting winning out with this team. They need to prove more and play more consistently. What I will say is the team has confidence that they can win games now. That goes a long way. I’m hoping now that theyve got this monkey off their back, they can get into a mindset late in games that they’ll make the plays necessary to win rather than what we’ve seen earlier in the season. Idk what the record shakes out to be, but it’s a good feeling to at least have some hope and see real improvement with the team. If they can finish the season with a .500 record or better if conference, that’s a real accomplishment given where they were a few weeks prior.

If they go 7-1 in their last 8, (say they lose to Houston) and then go 2-1 in the AAC tourney, that takes them to 22-12. Is that enough to be in the at-large conversation? Or is the Houston game at home a must win in order for them to be considered at-large?
See I think , if we get on a roll we win that Houston game. I believe that’s senior night in Gampel. Imagine that place on vitals last home game riding a 9 game winning streak ???? We beat smu wednesday, those chances really increase

I think we win out and get to final we are in. That gives us like an 11 game winning streak. Plus all those close losses we had. I think we can get in with that

Prolly the only path to an at large bid yes. One game at a time tho lol. If they can pull out a win at SMU, that’ll say a lot about how they can finish out the season.

On the other hand, that was a very big hole we dug for ourselves. Never mind the NCAA, we don't own an advantage over any of our AAC competitors for the NIT. Assuming Houston takes it all, we will be vying for the NIT with Tulsa, Memphis, Cincinnati, Wichita State and SMU, We don't have a season's series edge over any of them, and they all have better conference records. That makes a win over SMU critical for our NIT hopes, never mind our NCAA daydream. A mere winning record won't get us into the NIT.

With 30 or so regular season games, each one is so important. I know you can’t get too bogged down over losses, and you have to move on from it quickly, but Its so important to take care of business and beat the teams you are supposed to beat. Right now, we are 13-10. If you flip the St Joe’s result, 14-9. If you flip just one of those excruciating losses as well, we are 15-8, and 15-8 looks a lot better than 13-10. With the way we are playing right now, we have a chance to finish the season strong. Lets just take one game at a time, and then see where we are at with matchups for the conference tournament. This season has been a good learning experience for the young guys.
