Hey. You could be a Jets fan. They play at home, SF comes from across the country, loses their QB, the NFL's defensive POTY and their #1 RB in the first half.....and they still lose 31-13. Frank Gore with 21 carries for 63 yds!

You may not like it, but I am free to express myself and that right is protected.... If you do not like it then do not read it or just ignore it...
Help me out here: what protects your right to express yourself on this messageboard?

I wouldn’t touch a RB until Rd 3 at the earliest unless an absolute superstar fell into my lap. A lot of our fans are fuming because we didn’t take Dobbins but, as good as he may end up being, it’s just a bad use of a pick in the top 2 rounds. The Giants would be wise to shop Barkley and try to use the return to accelerate the rebuild behind Jones.

I agree.

If they shop Barkley and get a first rounder in a draft with lots of good OL players and then use their own pick for an OL too, that is a way to build with better QB protection and better protection for any of their RBs.

A few years ago, when Brady was out for the season, Matt Cassell put up great numbers because of being around players with a high skill set. Now, the Giants are not in that category, but their receivers are not bad, and neither are the other running backs. Ultimately with a better OL, they should be able to improve.

If they keep Jones, and he has more time to throw and a more credible running game (because of an improved OL), the Giants might return to respectability.

On the other hand.................................

I'm praying that Gase doesn't get fired mid-season. Let's go for 0-16.

That 55 yard run on 3rd and 31 was every bit as bad as the Butt Fumble.

I would classify the idea of getting a first rounder for a RB going through rehab from a catastrophic knee injury as "unlikely".

I grant you, it would be difficult. Frankly, I am not sure what Barkley would command in return.

If not my ideal scenario, maybe a very good, but not all star offensive lineman and maybe a 2nd or 3rd or later round pick along with it , or at least one of these . In the pro basketball arena, the Nets signed Durant even with his injury. The Knicks gambled on Amare Stoudamire with his knee issue.

The fact that SB has had two serious injuries in successive seasons, might give a lot of teams pause as to what they would offer in return. Then again, the Giants out of pride, might not even trade him.

Nobody was giving up more than a 3rd at best before the injury, since you'd also have to give him a contract extension in a few months. On the brightside this decreases the likelihood Gettleman extends him which is a good thing
