RE's poker face disguises an inward smirk as the UConn O breaks the huddle, lines up and begins it pre-snap motions. He knows, more than Deleone himself, that UConn will run LM up the middle. The Maryland D is stacked and waiting. The most predictable play in the football universe, the infamous UConn inside handoff on 1st and 10, is blown up 2 yards behind the LOS by 4 nearly simultaneous tacklers. The Twerps fans let out their first roar of the day.

2nd and 12. Will another BYer please call Deleone's next play?

2nd down is always the wildcat simulated read option...

A pass. It will be incomplete and then UConn will lose confidence in the aerial game and resort to Turtle Ball (not Maryland Turtles but slow motion ground game). If Maryland is as inept offensively, people will be leaving at halftime bored and ready to retreat to the library for something more exciting. This game is a showdown between some of the least creative coaches on the offensive side of the ball. Defensive coordinators at both schools ought to spend the week in Atlantic City.

More seriously, knowing that UConn's players will probably come out somewhat overpsyched, wanting to make a point to their former coach, and how conservative FHCRE normally is, I would be ready for trickery on MD's first play from scrimmage. Something like the flea flicker that Endres overthrow Difton on on the first play at WV in '09 the week after Jazz's death.

I'd love to see a little bubble screen to Nick Williams or a short slant route

We need a short passing game, play action, and options for Whitmer. He should play the full game. Clearly there's a lot of learning to do. Better get it going now, so that we have a chance to develop a decent offense by the end of the year.

Slot Slant over the middle to N. Williams, which is taken to the house.

We come out 4 wide, then shuffle to bunch left, and run #43 thru the 1 hole!

I'm not sure what we will do, but I know Maryland is a shoe in for the shotgun handoff up the middle.

I think regardless of who wins the coin-toss the first play will be an inside run between the tackles.
