This is no big deal.

I'm so glad about the team! Our five guys, and I'm really glad that Whalen made it. She had an amazing year and deserves it.

Read that 5 from one school is a record for the Olympic team. Tenn held the previous record at 3.

I can't imagine Griner not making the team...there may be some arcane USA Basketball and/or NCCA rule that they have to wait to announce college players (and she'd be the only one) until a) the college season is over, or b) when the player's team is eliminated from the tournament. I don't know, just a guess.

Yeah, you're right. It couldn't possibly be disappointing not to be named to the Olympic team during the announcement at the Final Four where you are playing.

Griner has either been told in confidence that she will make the team and they don't plan on announcing until after the FF, or she is going to use this as motivation to completely dominate everyone this upcoming weekend. Honestly, stop crying. A player the caliber of Brittney simply channels her feelings and uses them to even further her ability on the court. If this was last year and Maya was in the same situation, I would be ecstatic knowing that she had this as additional motivation. Players can say what they want, but anyone who thinks Bentley's comments last week didn't give Uconn an extra kick in the pants motivation-wise is either lying to themselves or doesn't remember participating in competitive sports.

But I'm so good at crying. :( Come one, you've seen my previous posts...it's my thang...it's what I do.

Yeah, really disappointing when the vast majority of pundits think that last spot is for Griner,
