No but we were supposed to at least look like a college basketball team. For crying out loud people around here forget we're two years away from a championship. Calhoun unfortunately left us in a mess and if Ollie doesn't work a miracle it's going to be tough for Warde to not hold a national search. Look, I love Calhoun, am a season ticket holder and wouldn't trade that third ring for anything. I also want Ollie here long term but I want to see a team rebound, play defense and execute offensively this year. If he can't get this team to play solid fundamental ball than we need to open this job up to everyone.i forgot we were suppose to beat AIC by 60 in order for this to be a success
What were you expecting? What did coach do wrong? What do you expect this season - wins - losses?NT

Obviously this was the first game ever with Ollie as HC and im sure that will take getting used to for the players as well as the coaching staff.

What are you talking about? As long as he shows up for 50% of the games and wears matching shoes he deserves a 5 year extension...Games like this don't tell you too much since I think coaches tend to use them to experiment with things. Anyone really think we'll see much of some of those guys in real games? Although struggling in the first half against a completely undermanned D-2 team isn't great news. The team is not untalented. but going 10-20 won't impress anyone.
Tongue-in-cheek I know, but the thing I'll be looking for is improvement. As mentioned in another thread, Ollie indeed does have much to prove this season as he's basically auditioning for a permanent gig. The whole Bell thing is not encouraging from the recruiting front (just my $.02 so don't anyone go all bonkers) but if Ollie strikes out a bit on recruiting, he will need to show real growth throughout the year in how the team performs.

Let me see:
1. 1st exhibition game, under a new coach who is coaching his first basketball game of his career.
2 We won the game by 15 points, after losing a number of top players from last year.
3. We came from 10 pointd down to win by 15 and outscored AIC by 25 points from that point forward.
4. We have a freshman who scored 24 points in his first game.
5. We played much better in the second half than the first.
6. We are learning a new offense and defense.
7. We outrebounded AIC 39/31
A very credible coaching job for his first game. I am satisfied.
Congratulations to the team and the coaching staff for the win!

To me these games don't tell you all that much. You could make a case that the team wasn't well prepared and simply wore down a badly overmatched opponent. But you could make a case that they showed what they can really do once they got comfortable in a game setting. and without knowing exactly what the coach's plan was, did he want to see what Daniels could do at the 4 and left him in there longer, did he want to give Nolan more time to adjust to big time consitions? all those things might or might not come into play. I do think, though that you need to keep in mind that this was the AIC Yellowjackets, not Georgia Tech.Let me see:

Very good point fgbrault
Additional considerations:
They have no credible post players.
Players such as DD and NG played the 4 and they are primarily 3's
SN showed the effects of the surgery and the delay of playing with the new players and new system.
With all your points and the ones I added I consider the game wasn't surprising at all and felt as you do - it was a quality win.
And this thread demonstrates the difficulty in assessing Kevin Ollie's coaching performance for the season. Assessment is subjective. Everyone has their own standards of assessment and can find ways to justify that assessment. There are many different agendas and needs by the fans and alumni, the university, the players, Warde Manuel, Sue Herbst, and the Board of Trustees. When the final verdict comes to deciding Kevin Ollies' ability to coach it will be about a lot of different things and not just recruiting and x's and o's. If the people with the power want KO next season they will rehire him and find the attributes of his coaching this season that support their decision. If they want to fire him after this season, they will find the weaknesses in his coaching to support their decision. And unless KO has an incredibly successful or unsuccessful season, there will be enough people to support either decision.
