No, it is one or two days less rest. He has been getting 6 days rest between outings.
You’re missing the point. These are 18-21 year olds that don’t have the same medical staffs as the pros. Their recovery takes longer and when they’re used to 6 days rest, taking 2 away matters

Big win today over top 50 RPI East Carolina. This win currently gives UConn a 10-5 record over RPI top 50 opponents, which makes for a nice hood ornament for an NCAA at large bid. Having that 2-1 wins over losses ratio is also impressive. Also, this win means UConn will finish over .500 in the AAC regular season, an impressive hood ornament for a bid considering the strength of the AAC this season and UConn's current RPI. As always, the object of any of these conference series is to take 2 out of 3. That's a lot easier to do when you don't have to take both games of a doubleheader.

My wife tells me that Chris Jones was thinking this win clinches an NCAA at large bid. I suspect Chris Jones is right.

Just back from the game. Not much clutch hitting today but the pitching was really good. And the D again was really good bar the Winkel error. ECU pitchers throw to first more than any other college team I have ever seen - combined. Made it a 3+ hour game.

Overall, a win is a win and this was a Big One. Let's get at least one tomorrow.

Great win today. Hoping to split the double header and rest some arms for next week.

Tim Cate looked available for the game in the bullpen based on what I saw

I would think that if Tim Cate is truly available, then he will pitch tomorrow. There will be plenty of innings during that doubleheader where you could fit him in. Plus it would be a good warm up for him for the AAC tourney next week.

Yeah it would be nice to get 3 innings out of Tim tomorrow.

Good crowd size for today's game for a Thursday afternoon. Even football coach Randy Edsall was in attendance.
I really like hearing that about Randy. I know Ray Reid is not the most popular guy at the moment, but I've met him a few times at hoops games. Good to have guys running our teams who are into Uconn as a whole. Love it. Penders seems like a real easy guy to want to support.

Lower your aspirations. The guy hasn't pitched in a game since late March. If Cate is actually available and pitches tomorrow, I would think it will only be for an inning or two.

No. 22 UConn Grabs 3-2 Series Opener vs. No. 9 ECU

Notes:
  • The win against No. 9 ECU was the first win over a top 10 team since the Huskies knocked off No. 10 Louisville in the 2013 Big East Tournament. It was only the second game the Huskies played against a top 10 team since that 2013 victory (2016 Gainesville Regional, No. 1 Florida).
  • P.J. Poulin earned his 14th save of the year to tie a UConn single-season record (John Russell, 2017). Poulin has recorded his seventh-straight scoreless outing (11.2 innings)
  • Sophomore Mason Feole is already tied for 18th in UConn history with 15 wins (Anthony Marzi, Elliot Glynn).
  • UConn has won its last three one-run games against ECU.
  • UConn is 5-2 against Top-25 teams this season.

Houston leading SE Louisiana 4-0 in the 4th, Cincinnati leads USF 5-3 in the 5th. UCF/Tulane??...

Yeah it would be nice to get 3 innings out of Tim tomorrow.

If we get one pitch out of Cate it would be a bonus. As much as we could use him, JP needs to be very careful with him. Both the Huskies & he have a lot at stake. It's a really fine line to balance.

Waiting to see our new RPI, but WarrenNolan hasn't finalized the UCONN win...

Warren Nolan may rely on UConn's Gametracker. Both still have the game in the 8th inning, so it could be a long wait. The Nolan website will figure it out at some point.

He had 5 days rest coming in to this start and looked fine, I'm not worried
