Go to Hell. Get a Job. What a depressing game. Can't believe how bad Tuberville set us back.

What do you think of Fickell so far?
In game coaching has not been great but I'm willing to give him some time considering it's his first HC job and so the whole staff is new and hasn't worked with each other before. Early results have not been good.

He has killed it in recruiting. We've landed 7 of the top 55 kids in Ohio (which is unheard of for us). Including two of the best prospects we've ever gotten here in Malik Vann (yes, his older brother played at UConn) and Josh Whyle.

With that being said, the game Saturday is gonna be unwatchably bad.

Minimal changes on UConn FB depth chart: LB Ryan Gilmartin will start as Junior Joseph is out for the first half Saturday vs. Cincinnati.

LB Chris Britton (concussion) back in depth chart but listed as backup to Santana Sterling.

Just noticed Eddie Hahn has moved back to DB. He's listed behind starter Omar Fortt. Anthony Watkins not
listed.

S Anthony Watkins has a concussion. He's out.

Jordan Swann listed as top PR, not Quayvon Skanes.

RB Jason Thompson, WR Kyle Buss, LB Chris Britton all practiced. Should be back this week.

Edsall talked to team about seniors playing their last game of football ever, and wearing UConn jersey for last time, stressed importance of everyone working to have them exit on a positive note Saturday at Cincinnati.

Going forward, UConn has to get bigger, faster and stronger, Edsall said

Neill Ostrout‏ @NeillOstrout 11s 11 seconds ago
Edsall said he sent an email out to asst coaches, AD David Benedict, in spring. Said “We’re not a strong enough team and we’re not a fast enough team."

Ed Daigneault‏ @EdDaigneault 1m 1 minute ago
Diaco talked a lot about nutrition, etc., but Edsall says the Huskies lacked strength and speed coming out of the spring.

Gavin Keefe‏ @GavinKeefe 31s 32 seconds ago
Edsall on recruiting in the area: "There's kids in this region that are more than capable to play here."

More Edsall on recruiting: "We can't afford to make a mistake. ... We've been working diligently since we've been here. And we've got to find the right type of guys."

Edsall talking recruiting, says plenty of capable players in this area, but geographic footprint similiar to what it was during first stint at UConn ... down in Florida, in Texas. Might see more recruiting in California, he said.

There is so much good stuff in these few tweets.

1) Edsall knew in the spring how physically deficient we were, and I'd argue that he even knew that in the winter.
2) Love the Daigneault shade on Diaco's nutrition nonsense.
3) The region will support us with a bulk of quality players as it always has, and we will supplement as we always have with southern regions.
4) More California recruiting...I've gotta believe that Corey is a big part of that. The state (or arbitrator or whomever) had better get their crap together or we're going to lose him!

The future is bright, and we'll get this thing put back together again...

Edsall knew it when he was hired. Benedict knew it and when Edsall saw film he knew it for sure. Then he saw them in person and realized it was going to be a tough year. In the past, he would go nuts about the mistakes after a win. This year, he is trying to build a real culture.

We should rarely ever lose to Cincinnati. I expect even RE2 will win 4 out 5 once he gets a couple of recruiting cycles under his belt.

This is a very very important game. If the Huskies throw in a stinker on Saturday, that will have a very chilling effect on ticket sales next year. A win would show that the trajectory has turned upward again. The narrative for sales will be MUCH different.

We were losing regularly to them during RE1.0's tenure except for 2 games at the Rent. It's nothing new. They've been a solid football program in our conference since they joined in 2005 (minus the recent dropoff). Guessing they'll bounce back soon.

Come to think of it, we shouldn't be in a conference getting destroyed by directional schools formerly from Conference USA, but that's another story.

3 wins versus 4 wins after season long narrative of lack of speed/strength/depth will have negligible impact on season ticket sales next year... a win over a 3-8 (1-6) team won’t move the needle.

It would be a feel good win for team/program but can’t see its translating to increased season ticket sales (especially based on home OOC schedule next year of UMass/URI).

If the caveat is "Free Season Tickets" next season..... I am listening.

Buying season tickets just makes no financial sense anymore. I can get tix on stubhub for 5 bucks, why buy them at face value?
