In the 3 years Pitino has been there, he’s managed to strike out in just about every big matchup possible. Needed a watered down Big East to make noise last year.

Easily might be going too far, but I do think if they play at their peak it should be a win of 7-10 pts. They did played well in the South Carolina tournament which includes a victory over Virginia, a win, as of right now, looks like it will age like fine wine. Northwestern is not good. And not nearly as good Virginia. However, Butler's play has a large variance as can be seen with their home loss to Boise State-that is most likely the reason for the 1.5 Vegas line. All of this was assuming Martinelli playing for Northwestern.

With Northwestern's Martinelli not playing, Butler should win easily or say comfortably (7-10 pts). Will they? Only if they bring the best version of themselves.

I don't know how much it will help the Big East if Butler wins, but it will definitely hurt the Big East if they don't. Butler will most likely finish in the top half of the Big East while Northwestern will finish in the bottom half of the B1G. This might all be moot after St. John's just shiiiit the bed against Kentucky.

I would not be too disappointed in 4 all things considered. What disappoints me is only having one true contender. Even recently there have always been 2-3 top 4 seeds. Looking like just us this year

This team plays nothing like Pitino teams of the past. Outside of the track meet against Alabama they're boring. They don't create turnovers, the guard play isn't there. It's just a group of talented players with no identity at all. Really disappointing job by Pitino.

I'll be interested to see if he can get buy in or if some players eventually check out. Hurley should mop the floor with him.
