Very interesting. Indiana looked insane yesterday. I Iiked their transfer pickups but Garzon is truly a difference maker.
I don't know what to make of NC. I don't think they've played that well but I do see them still as a contender for the ACC title. I thought Paulina Paris was going to be an instant difference maker for them but looks like she may need a year to get acclimated to the college game.
I also don't know what to make of the lower tier teams in the ACC. I know they r u they won the challenge. But teams like Syracuse, Georgia Tech, Miami, who I thought were sure fore tournament teams have not looked great.
Syracuse is rebuilding with a new coach. For as much success Legette-Jack had at Buffalo, it can't be assumed that Syracuse would improve that quickly. It helps to have transfers familiar with her system, but she's still working with a group that are learning how she wants things done as a coach.
Georgia Tech, not sure what to say. I don't follow them close enough to understand how much of the team remains from last season. I know Cubaj was drafted but I can't recall if anyone transferred out / in during the off-season. Their game with Michigan State went down to the last few plays, so the jury's still out on them.
Miami is perplexing considering what they accomplished last season, especially during the ACC tournament. The hype around the Cavinder twins hasn't really translated on the court yet in my opinion. Their key freshman Oldacre hasn't played yet either (injury?).
I'm tracking them primarily because of Lattimore who transferred in from Texas. As a highly ranked prospect from Canada along with her former team mate Day-Wilson, it hasn't translated on the court the way people expected it would. Her team has been hyping her transfer to Miami, to help with her branding, including some games earlier in the season where she scored in double digits. Lately, she's struggled in tougher match ups, including last night's against Michigan (8 min I think). Considering she's on Canada Basketball's radar, including being part of their U23 squad this past summer, I expected more.
