So you're getting rid of Louisville but keeping Pitt and Boston College?

Not complaining ... I don't think the Big East wants either one of them back anyway.

Well they both lived to see another day .... I ain't done trying to clean up the league :D

So...can McGuff coach now? At least a little bit at least? I have a hard time keeping track.

Wake Forest actually won :eek::eek::eek:
Jewel Spear with the winning splash 3.

Is this Wake's first challenge win ever? I did notice that they already got a head start on assuming their proper role in the SEC challenge as they already have losses to both Missouri and Alabama.

Something tells me that Whalen's firing papers were being drafted as the buzzer sounded.

According to wikipedia Wake Forest was 3-6 in the challenge before tonight. So out of their 4 victories... 2 came vs Minnesota

Not sure that Louisville's roster meshes well, particularly the Van Lith and Carr backcourt. Will be interesting to see how they progress over the course of the season.

I feel like Cochran and Dixon have made very little improvement over their time at Louisville. Cochran in particular had a nice frosh campaign but her scoring and FG% have gone down each season since.

I forget who, but someone on this board, has raved about Mikulášiková since last season. Then this season said she’s the most underrated post (in the big ten or nation, I can’t remember). I didn’t fully buy that but she’s worked this season.

As someone who has season tickets to OSU games, I’ve spent many games shaking my head at some of her decision making in the past, but she clearly improved her fitness and worked hard this off season to be a solid contributor so far.
Was having a similar conversation with a friend last night about this same topic. HUGE improvement from last season.

Also, for a team that relies so much on pressing, it's pretty amazing that OSU only went 7 players deep.

Scoring leaders:
Mikesell 26
Sheldon 22
Mikulášiková 21

I think everyone knew about Sheldon and Mikesell, but Rebeka Mikulášiková's performance in big games has really been a difference maker.
I guess Ohio State has good luck with International centers.

I was interested in seeing how the teammates and opponents of Paige from the Hopkins era looked. Braun was a stud all over the court and a definite 2pt threat but Amaya Battle had some really rough luck. She definitely looks good physically with a little Paige wiggle in her game but missed so many chippees (1-10)

Looks like Nnaji getting her bearings at AZ.

So last night's games end up in a draw for both conferences. Will be interesting to see how tonight's games shake out.

@triaddukefan Did you include Clemson as part the list in that letter of yours? ;)

I had overlooked them, but now that you bring it up..... I was quite upset when they lost to the chickens in football on Saturday. How in the heck do you lose to your biggest rival, a team yall had dominated for the last 8 years.. with a possible playoff bid on the line? Where is the ACC pride? Now nobody cares about the ACC title game this Saturday. Cancontent got me riled up over football on a basketball day :mad:

I'm pretty sure there's a proviso in their membership clause that relegates them back to the SoCon as soon as they lose to South Carolina in football

1. That would create some good neighborhood brawls... Clemson vs Furman ?? Clemson vs Wofford ?? Clemson vs Western Carolina??

2, At this rate, the only teams left in the ACC by the weekend will be Duke, Wake, State, UVA, and Virginia Tech. But if Tech loses to the Lady Vols on Sunday... man ol man :mad:

Really like this lineup of games tonight!.

Can I pull for any ACC teams? I was a sentient Gamecock back when we left the conference and we Southerners hold onto our grudges.

Azzi AAU team mate Lee Volker looking like Azzi on offense for the Dukies against North Western. 8 pts in Q1 on 4-5 shooting. Currently on ACCN

Okay...I'll bite,

I feel like the big criticism for McGuff's teams in the past was no defense...He always had offensive plans and adjustments (for the most part...). But he's stated, and I've scoffed, that he just hasn't had the deep team he needs to play the style of defense they want to play. I never bought it because you should be able to adjust to your strengths, no? But it seems he finally has the assistant coaches and players who buy in to this system and it's making him look really good. I thought last season was a bit of a fluke winning the season title, but I guess not. I do think Tennessee and Louisville are two teams that just aren't going to live up to their preseason hype, but I have more faith in Louisville setting things right by the post-season.

This is also one of the most experienced teams in the NCAA right now. They didn't come into the season with huge holes. This is also the first year since 2017 that McGuff has had multiple four year players. (Sheldon, Mikulasikova, Greene, and Harris – Greene and Harris have both redshirted one season for injuries, so only played three). So that's a lot of time to finally get a core group to buy into the system. So, I guess he's a decent enough coach, but I think he's paired with the right athletes right now in the right year. If he could just recruit better, he might have better year to year consistency.

Next season they will lose Mikesell, they could lose Sheldon, they might lose Mikulasikova, Greene, and Harris. Then the next most experienced player is Taylor Thierry, who really has surprised me with her solid play. This season is really the marketing season for the teams of the future. What's been the most impressive thing from OSU in the last four seasons is the player development..I never would have thought I'd say that after the Mitchell seasons, but the players who have stayed for more than two seasons, have really seen an increase in their game.

For literally no reason, I’d like to say to @cancontent that I was just playing devils advocate in our conversation about why Indiana could lose to UNC. Just so that’s clear, no real reason to say this at this specific time.

Watching the ND/Maryland game. I’m not sure who the announcers are. One was talking about UConn and was trying to have a convo about Azzi. The other announcer changed the subject real quick
