If a call like this happened to UConn in a final four game I would be ready to crash out
Duke had the ball up 6 with 47 seconds left. It wasn't the all-time epic choke but it was still crazy. Houston never should've been there but they were always there. I could see it happening in real time and then when Duke needed to make the shot I knew it would be what it was (make or miss.) Flagg is awesome but he has flopped in his three opportunities. Scheyer still sucks.

This. All that talent and he blew it.. Guy is a supreme stiff. Milquetoast was a bystander rather than taking charge.Scheyer still sucks.
1000%It was definetly an epic choke job.
I would go a step further… A collapse… which is choke (2) …. There is no way on earth they should have loss that game. Reminded me a bit of the Seton Hall game this year which will haunt us for eternity. It was definetly an epic choke job.
Duke scored 8 points in the final 9 minutes and had a 14 point lead that seemed like it was 25. It was in every sense a colossal chokeDuke had the ball up 6 with 47 seconds left. Eternity? The Seton Hall fail was an awful, sort of sickening loss at the time, but it didn't cost us more than a seed line in the NCAA tourney. We had our shot against Florida, and couldn't put them away. I can't imagine most of us will think about the Seton Hall debacle much beyond the next couple seasons. For a while, sure, but it'll fade.I would go a step further… A collapse… which is choke (2) …. There is no way on earth they should have loss that game. But this was the Final Four - losing like this will be talked about for decades to come.
But the whole apocalyptic take for Duke in big scheme of things - only 1 team wins it all and there are what like over 300 teams? I don’t see the loss as totally unexpected but it’s just he way that they lost.
I am sorry Sampson trying to make it like “no one gave us a chance…” It’s like dude you weren’t a Cinderella….. It was a #1 Seed taking down a #1 Seed, Save the drama, and play in the NC Game….
Actually they were up by 9 with 2:10 to go but who's counting?Duke up 8, 9 points with 3 minutes left on a final 4 game, what could possibly go wrong
This!Reminded me a bit of the Seton Hall game this year which will haunt us for eternity.
Did not watch the game. Boycott Duke games. Never want to contribute to their media ratings.Pages 5-7 of this thread are funny to read knowing the result!
Flagg did hook him, call was borderline any sports fan likes to see a play on in that situation. Kind of like a ref throwing a flag in the Super Bowl on a ticky tack holing call on an end of game play, which they let fly all game, wasnt the reason Duke lost though.
Duke went 10 minutes without scoring we didn’t even do that this year and they were still in comfortable position. The story will be about Duke as it always is, but give Kelvin Sampson and his guys credit, he outcoached Scheyer the entire game and had a great feel for the game as well knowing when to use his timeouts and when not to use them. Was there luck involved of course, reminded me a bit of the Pats-Falcons Super Bowl where seemingly everything had to go right for Houston and it did, putting immense game pressure on Duke.
Then you have to give Khalid crap for his “shock the world” statement too. We were a pretty good team in 1998-99 too.I would go a step further… A collapse… which is choke (2) …. There is no way on earth they should have loss that game. Reminded me a bit of the Seton Hall game this year which will haunt us for eternity.

I assume he meant "wasn't the all-time choke job" as in "wasn't the single worst ever," because otherwise this was about as bad as it gets. To be up nine with two minutes left and manage lose in regulation even AFTER your opponent gifts you a free point on a technical is staggering. It was definetly an epic choke job.
In 98-99, only Duke and UConn held the #1 ranking all year. Yet, in the Final, we were 9.5 pt underdogs. Then you have to give Khalid crap for his “shock the world” statement too. We were a pretty good team in 1998-99 too.
I could well be wrong but I believe there was a bit more to KEA saying that than merely a run of the mill team who was a massive underdog beating a seemingly unbeatable opponent. Then you have to give Khalid crap for his “shock the world” statement too. We were a pretty good team in 1998-99 too.
