True, but this was not about physical play. This was more akin to taunting. if somebody shoves the ball in your face after a made basket by them, then you are likely going to hunt them down - male or female. hopefully they threw Petty, the Kty. instigator out as well as the Fla. girl who hunted her down

Maybe she could have quit after she missed throwing the ball at her (and missing). So, do you equally feel that Lou hunting down the girl that dumped her on the court and taunted with a smile was equally inappropriate. Lou wasn't able to fully complete her mission so we are not sure what she had in mind. In both cases the refs missed the initial transgression so the player(s) felt they needed to send their own message. Geno might have thrown a water bottle if he had been there.
I wonder if they need to revisit this rule to account for this scenario. They should allow players to seek safety...like allow bench players to remove themselves from the area by moving in the direction of their locker room if a scenario like this one breaks out.
You just can’t come on the playing court or get actively involved such as throwing something. As I stated in another thread, I don’t approve of T Wyche doing what she did…but based on the clip but I certainly understand.
In fairness this type of incident has been going on for a long time at all levels of basketball. My grandmother told me of a similar incident when she was playing offense/defense basketball back in the 1930s.
The men don’t do this either. It’s wrong, no matter the gender of the player
I agree. This is a natural consequence of the shape of the game that has been encouraged.
I think if there's chaos in the vicinity of the bench itself...the cut and dry 'you can't come onto the court' should be revisited. Where do you go? Jump over the seat?
If you are actively trying to get out of the way of the fight or altercation or whatever is going on and happen to run onto a part of the court then you are not going to get thrown out. Even in this instance there were players that were technically on the court and backing out of the way that did not get thrown out.
Why would anyone want this? I constantly see people complaining about it (here and everywhere). No one wants them to call every single ticky-tacky foul but also no one wants people playing out of control.In my opinion, this is the inevitable result of the trend of "letting them play" and allowing the game to become more physical. This is going to keep happening if the NCAA doesn't get a handle on it. Applies to both the men's and women's game. Maybe this is what the fans want? If so, watching basketball is going to become a lot less enjoyable.
Maybe we as a society are reverting back to the days of the gladiators in the Roman coliseum...
