Fairfield Little League World Series

I had to laugh that one of the kids was up at bat and his "fun fact" thing said that before every game he has a mortadella and mozzarella sandwich.

My mannnnnnnnnn
i tried to explain to my friends outside of the tri-state that CT is super italian, and some people actually talk like some of the sopranos characters (east haven im looking at you), but they just assume CT is rich blonde dudes living in Darien. they also never understand that CT has a lot of rough parts as well!

In addition to having the largest Italian population per capita in the states Connecticut has the largest Puerto Rican population per capita by a huge margin, the largest Jamaican population per capita, the largest Albanian population per capita...

People outside of CT still seem to think everyone who lives in the state is named Muffy and Buffy.

He blew an NIL opportunity by not shouting out A & S or Sorrento Importing as the supplier of the sandwich....

Interesting stuff - did not know these tidbits. Fact check verified all spot on.

You can tack on 4th for Portugese, 2nd for Brazilian, 3rd for Polish and 5th for Haitian. Not too shabby on the diversity fronts.

Leave my girlfriends out of this

I gotta be honest, that’s my perception from out of state. Connecticut always seems very floofy and preppy and kinda how people picture Duke. That’s just the external view. I know it’s not accurate but it’s the first thing that pops in my mind.

I never thought I would hear someone say they own a summer home in Daytona.
Not my Summer home - go there in Winter - just had to go for FIL big 85th bday - oldest living FBI agent left so snuck in a few rounds of golf but yeah, mostly a Winter home.

that's just Fairfield County
Darien, Greenwich, Ridgefield, Westport, Wilton, Weston, New Canaan

as far as today's game:
looks like both teams will using #2 starters
i think last non-Luca start, Fairfield used #3 to start, then #2 to finish
not sure they can do that today - if they lose they drop down to losers bracket and will have to play tomorrow without their #1, #2 or #3
no clue who they have after that (maybe the big lefty designated hitter?)
if they win, they are all set to play again on Saturday with Luca fully rested

The Italians that came over during and after WWII were either laborers like masons and other construction or they ended up working in the factories. Central CT when Stanley and Fafnir Bearing were in their hey day was home to many different types of industry.

I think the Italians (which I am 100% first generation) were more towards the laborer and construction industry and the Polish immigrants were more skilled as machinists. I know I am generalizing but that was just my experience.

My grandfather was a mason and my godfather owned a large fence company that anyone who was driving on the Berlin Tpke in the 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s would have passed.

Look at New Britain and Berlin for a start when it comes to industrial centers. Probably had more factories per square mile than any other state as well.

...... and needing socks for sandals.
I hope you are 6'3'' and solid, or have an open carry permit.

Great little documentary on NH Pizza & Italian immigration, if you haven't seen it.

Having spent a lot of time down there, your comments seemed off.... difference in humidity maybe.... but looking online, average summer highs in summer for Daytona and Ft. Myers are both in the high 80's. 😜
There is little difference in humidity.

If it's Florida, it's swamp @$$ from May-October. No escaping it.

I turned on the CT/Nevada game just now. First inning. Next pitch, BOOM....3 run Homer for NV.
I hope I won't have to skip watching all the hoops games this winter.

It’s interesting we can’t wait for summer to be over in AZ . Even the kids the parks are deserted all summer.
Because they only get 5 weeks when it’s hot , 2wks the last week in Sept first of Oct.
Then 3 weeks for Christmas plus a couple of more. In the spring
I spent the last 5-6 late summers to fall in Ct . ,,,,Summer is over for me
The weather will be perfect when I return ,the bad news I’m not staying long enough to catch a UConn BB game this year .
I can’t get anyone interested in a football game
I go to every home football game and usually my friends get so bombed they pull out the karaoke machine and start blasting random one-hit wonders from the 90’s during the tailgate.

Always a good time.

We follow that plan even though we live in Ft Myers. We stay in Daytona summer home ( 15* cooler than Ft. Myers in summer with almost no humidity) then we get 80 degrees and no humidity for 6 months till the next summer.
No humidity in summer in Daytona and 15 degrees cooler than in Ft. Myers? We need to see the NWS charts on those claims..........

ESPN's top 10 tomorrow simply HAS to include the centerfielder's spectacular over the head grab early on.
As I understand it their ace pitcher will be ready to go on Saturday. Catcher's catch and sweep tag at home on a throw from right field cutting down
a Nevada run early on should be in the top 10 too.

Loved watching this!
