Fagnano and Bell are out for the Wasabi Bowl

LOL. We can demand that players being paid play hard for 12 games but not for 13? Do you really think that makes any sense?

Where have you been? They’ve been doing it for a while in bowl games but let’s just hammer the UConn kids lol. Please stop they’re doing what makes sense for their future. I mean the game is in December at Fenway who gives a rats ass?

LOL, something doesn't equate, but nice try.

I do remember Andre Drummond playing completely disinterested one March.
Star players entering end of season game(s) decide to stay healthy.

Again, go watch division 3 sports. College sports stopped being amateurs when TV money got involved and coaches started being the highest paid employees in a state
Colleges need to reassert their control of institutional programs. If they revert back to D3 model, TV will still cover the games. Use the leverage that exists.

I don't know how to break it to you, but this is the direct result of colleges taking institutional control of programs. They sued to take control of the TV money and then used their leverage to create the current CFP system we have today.

That would be the drean scenario for @TouchdownHusky !
Yeah, destroy the model they has success with: passing the ball. As for the 4th string QB . . . did 2 & 3 enter the portal? Did UConn recruit a player with zero skill at QB just for sheets and giggles? If JF isn't gonna play then give each QB an audition for next year. Each should have 10-12 passing attempts. UConn isn't gonna beat Army (nobody in their camp opting out), so this game will be a better barometer that the touch football spring game.

No, they took control of right to negotiate with TV to have their games on. Nothing to do with paying players.

By this logic why would anyone who does not have nfl talent ever play at all? The time and energy commitment could be more efficiently spent studying.

Thankfully service members have a strong sense of loyalty and respect for the institution. Most are not driven by money.

We as fans have created the current situation. Unless we all walk away ....myself included....this is what we have.
I think we can all agree that it's a crappy outcome in college athletics.
You're probably right about the fans needing to walk away and, as for academy players, there's a lot of artificial pressure applied on them in many aspects of their lives and education to test their ability to be leaders. That crucible in which they live builds more camaraderie than any regular college player experiences.

Academy players work together in all aspects of their lives, not just in their athletic activities, to help each other reach their goals.

I'm always positive about our chances and think we can find a way to win every game but, if we don't have the players being mentioned as out for the bowl game, we don't have a chance.

That's selfish on the part of those sitting out and a shame for those who worked hard all year and will be playing significantly undermanned.

Is there an Over/Under for total pass attempts in the Fenway Bowl available on the betting sites? If so, I am going to bet my house on the under.

A game at Fenway in December between Army and likely a 4th string UConn QB who has never attempted a pass in college ...we may not even get to double digit pass attempts in the game.
I wouldn't call Nick 4th string.

The Ivy’s do.
You sure about that? I see some big unexpected Ivy moves in hockey, for instance. Gotta be rich alumni NIL. Maybe I am wrong, but I would like to hear your substantiation for your statement.

I've been thinking this but then I remember we're playing Army and our D can't guard a chair. If we have any of our defensive starters sit out, this could get really ugly.
Luckily they do not have to guard anything. They have to knock the guards on their butts. 😉

It is if Reed and Ball decided that they were going pro.

The March basketball tournament is a path to a national championship; the Fenway Bowl is not. I would be livid if we were in the football tournament and this happened. This is very different. Do you think Mora would have moved on if we were in the tournament? Imagine Dan Hurley announcing he was taking another job just as March madness was about to begin. Do you not understand how losing the coach sucked the life out of this bowl game, if there was any life to begin with?

The entire ND team backed out of a chance to play in a New Year's Day bowl and their coach is still there. The landscape is changing dramatically, and these bowl games are losing their importance every year. I guess some fans miss the good old days. (I do too) Every generation thinks things were better when they were young and yet society advances.

For the past 40 years I have heard football fans wish there was a pro style tournament to determine a championship, the powers that be in college football resisted that change because they knew it would destroy the bowl tradition, now that we have a football tournament, fans are up in arms that the bowls are no longer important.

That may be a post/handle kind of a thing. But, arguably, since they are in the army, they could be guarding all kinds of things.

Honestly, I’ve loss some respect for both players. What happened to the brotherhood they preached all season. You’ve let ur teammates down.
This is exactly the point. When a selfish a- ole coach cuts and runs overnight without the decency of finishing the season, what he’s done is take 100 young men who believed in teamwork, brotherhood, and program pride, and turned them into untrusting, cynical, take care of yourself people perhaps for the rest of their lives. When the authority you trust betrays you, it can damage people. Especially kids that don’t have father figures and believed somebody cared. The damage done to young men, the lessons the system is teaching and “values” it prizes, are not good for raising men of character nor for society. Off my rant.
