So I guess the OL guys in the portal are playing?
I have no idea. I haven’t seen any hint about anyone’s plans other than Edward and maybe Fagnano and Bell. So since I have no idea, I don’t make an assumption one way or the other.

What is your definition of a meaningless game?

One where a head coach this season now coaches another team.

It's impressive how some posters are going out of their way to pretend nothing has changed the past few weeks, or that these two individuals specifically have nothing personal at stake causing them to make this decision. The juice isn't worth the squeeze for them. Personally, I would do the same thing.

Imagine Solo Ball and Tarris Reed saying they'll sit out March Madness.

This all blows gnu balls.

LOL, something doesn't equate, but nice try.

I do remember Andre Drummond playing completely disinterested one March.

.-.
I just find it wrong that there is honor in sitting out games now. People who say well it's the meaningless Fenway bowl their missing the point. There is a trickle down effect. NFL fans who don't care about college football this will have an effect on the draft and the NFL, there will be stunted development and more injury prone players, and less evaluations on film.

So what does it tell you about Cam playing in the bowl game a running back who has been beat up all year who's willing to put himself on the line for teammates.

Is there an Over/Under for total pass attempts in the Fenway Bowl available on the betting sites? If so, I am going to bet my house on the under.

A game at Fenway in December between Army and likely a 4th string UConn QB who has never attempted a pass in college ...we may not even get to double digit pass attempts in the game.
That would be the drean scenario for @TouchdownHusky !

Evers should start and be told no shoestring passes to Edwards out of the backfield. After that, I got nothing.

Nope. Not what us fans signed up for and shell out $$ for. Seems like everybody has their hands out and takes care of themselves except the fans and NIL supporters.

This 💩 has to stop. It’s not right.
No it doesn’t have to stop. This is on the NCAA not the players. The days of the Rose,Orange, Peach, Cotton bowls are long gone they mean zero. If you buy a ticket know the kid they gave 250K 500K 1M to play also has a future to look out for. They played hard for 12 games on the schedule, all you can ask unless on the playoffs that’s what this crap has accepted, it’s not the same they can do what they want and I for one, can’t blame any of them.

LOL. We can demand that players being paid play hard for 12 games but not for 13? Do you really think that makes any sense?

Where have you been? They’ve been doing it for a while in bowl games but let’s just hammer the UConn kids lol. Please stop they’re doing what makes sense for their future. I mean the game is in December at Fenway who gives a rats ass?

Star players entering end of season game(s) decide to stay healthy.

Again, go watch division 3 sports. College sports stopped being amateurs when TV money got involved and coaches started being the highest paid employees in a state
Colleges need to reassert their control of institutional programs. If they revert back to D3 model, TV will still cover the games. Use the leverage that exists.

I don't know how to break it to you, but this is the direct result of colleges taking institutional control of programs. They sued to take control of the TV money and then used their leverage to create the current CFP system we have today.

Yeah, destroy the model they has success with: passing the ball. As for the 4th string QB . . . did 2 & 3 enter the portal? Did UConn recruit a player with zero skill at QB just for sheets and giggles? If JF isn't gonna play then give each QB an audition for next year. Each should have 10-12 passing attempts. UConn isn't gonna beat Army (nobody in their camp opting out), so this game will be a better barometer that the touch football spring game.

No, they took control of right to negotiate with TV to have their games on. Nothing to do with paying players.

By this logic why would anyone who does not have nfl talent ever play at all? The time and energy commitment could be more efficiently spent studying.

Thankfully service members have a strong sense of loyalty and respect for the institution. Most are not driven by money.

We as fans have created the current situation. Unless we all walk away ....myself included....this is what we have.
I think we can all agree that it's a crappy outcome in college athletics.
You're probably right about the fans needing to walk away and, as for academy players, there's a lot of artificial pressure applied on them in many aspects of their lives and education to test their ability to be leaders. That crucible in which they live builds more camaraderie than any regular college player experiences.

Academy players work together in all aspects of their lives, not just in their athletic activities, to help each other reach their goals.

I'm always positive about our chances and think we can find a way to win every game but, if we don't have the players being mentioned as out for the bowl game, we don't have a chance.

That's selfish on the part of those sitting out and a shame for those who worked hard all year and will be playing significantly undermanned.
