We lucked out when we got Herbst and Ollie. This program really is on the rise, no matter how many times critics try to bury it. This was a nice beginning to get such a bright, and respectful kid to come and play basketball at UConn! How can you not be pumped up by this?

Having recruits meet with Herbst is a pretty nice touch. It's one thing for the coaching staff to tell kids that the APR issues will never resurface - it's another thing to hear it from the school president.

If this is really where we're leaning, it's time to can Blaney, promote Ollie to associate head coach, and hire a new assistant who Ollie will want to work with. Give Ollie 2 years in an elevated coaching capacity to learn the ropes, and hand him the reins after JC retires when his contract expires in 2014.
