This could be her chance to pick up an offer after meeting/integrating with the team if she doesn't have one already.
I think your point is spot on as a plan B if Okeke goes elsewhere, and I agree the tea leaves are looking less optimistic for her all the time, but if we hear news of a visit from Okeke, I think the Polymarket odds for her in a Husky uniform would shoot up dramatically,Ha!. I am very curious who if anyone shows up for our first two tournament games be it Okeke, Long, Hassel or anyone else. With Okeke looking elsewhere, Eve Long and Lauren Hassell, I would think, would be major priorities for the ‘27 class for our Huskies, to go along with Vukosa.

Eve Long has an official visit at UConn the 20th of this month. In my opinion, Eve Long. Haylen Ayers and Ivanna Wilson-Manyacka are huge recruits to go after this upcoming signing period.Okeke out of the picture.
I read Eve Long will be at one of the tournament games that we host first weekend in Storrs.
Hassel has official visits lined up with Vandy and UNC in April I believe, and she just took an official to Louisville. Not sure if she is interested in us anymore.
@IndyMark, I do not disagree with your list of priority recruits, but I think that Mica Ojo may be important too, because of the need for a quality Wing in 2027.Eve Long has an official visit at UConn the 20th of this month. I had Lauren Hassell as a wing forward but will check out Mica Ojo’s game. Jordyn Palmer is another possibility as well.@IndyMark, I do not disagree with your list of priority recruits, but I think that Mica Ojo may be important too, because of the need for a quality Wing in 2027.
That’s interesting since she’s scheduled to come to campus this coming weekend for her OV. GA is showing her his serious interest. This kid has a lot of potential.According to Dom's Amore's article in this morning's Courant, Geno flew to Kansas the morning after the BE championship game to watch Long play (or practice if there wasn't game).
I wonder if Geno will try to get to her shut down her recruitment and commit to UConn on her official visit. Great news that he flew out to Kansas to watch Eve practice or play a game. Geno is actively recruiting the ‘27 class, Haylen Ayers and now Eve Long. That’s interesting since she’s scheduled to come to campus this coming weekend for her OV. I very much doubt that Auriemma ever uses that somewhat desperate tactic.I wonder if Geno will try to get to her shut down her recruitment and commit to UConn on her official visit. I thought @IndyMark meant Geno’s trip out there was a good sign about his own future plans. A coach who recruits aggressively isn’t focused on retiring.I very much doubt that Auriemma ever uses that somewhat desperate tactic.
Geno, has flown to Tennessee to see Haylen Ayers and now going to see Eve Long is a great sign of a coach who plans on being here their career.I thought @IndyMark meant Geno’s trip out there was a good sign about his own future plans. A coach who recruits aggressively isn’t focused on retiring.
I went back and bolded what I was referring to. The lowlife tactic of pushing a kid to shut down their recruitment and commit out of fear that the kid might see a better opportunity if they continue to visit other schools and listen to other coaches.I thought @IndyMark meant Geno’s trip out there was a good sign about his own future plans. I get what you mean. High pressure tactics seem out of character for Geno no matter what. My impression is that Kim regularly approaches kids with pressure sales tactics, not only out of that fear, but also to get kids to fear they will be left behind. There were suggestions of this with the way she approached Sarah Strong. I suspect Geno never tries to ‘sell’ UConn to recruits. If the kid doesn’t want to be part of what Geno does, he’s not interested.I went back and bolded what I was referring to. I did not mean to ruffle feathers here. In college football this happens all the time, especially in the SEC, maybe SEC college basketball as well. A very cut throat business. It is absolutely “Dirty recruiting” but that is the nature of “big time” college athletics.I went back and bolded what I was referring to. I want Haylen Ayers- beautiful shot, form looks similar to Azzi in my opinion, good size too.Geno, has flown to Tennessee to see Haylen Ayers and now going to see Eve Long is a great sign of a coach who plans on being here their career.
A couple things to note here, Eve is scheduling official visits, her junior season so she may be trying to get her recruiting done so she can focus on being a senior, and enjoying her last year in high school. She can also, train in things she needs to work on, from the advice of her future coach, so that she could get impactful minutes when she goes to the college of her choice.
Yes, I’m aware of all of this so I question why, in your post #48, you wondered if Auriemma would try to do this.I did not mean to ruffle feathers here. There is no doubt that Geno has never done anything like that, nor would he ever have to. The name UCONN sells itself, it is known, as the “Basketball Capital of the world”. Geno’s longevity is recruited against him, so him flying out to see two highly touted recruits (Haylen Ayers and now Eve Long), speaks volumes to the player, their family, as well as opposing coaches, that he is not going anywhere soon.
I misspoke with the implication that Geno would refer to “dirty recruiting”. He is way above that. I heavily follow college football and I hear about this all the time with college football.Yes, I’m aware of all of this so I question why, in your post #48, you wondered if Auriemma would try to do this.
By the time she would enroll at UConn, she may be complementing both Jana and Gandy as well. Jana will be a senior and at her peak which I believe is very high.I mean I will take another 6'3 big for us to compliment Big O! If I remember correctly she is also a huge UCONN fan, so she should be ours to lose.
