Long had been on the fringes of the Top 10 in her class for some time before she made it in the most recent rankings, and she has further developed her game since. In a summer that saw her make the American U16 national team and win a gold medal, Long showed she is not just lengthy and springy, but also versatile and skilled. Recently, she created more buzz at Overtime Select's second weekend.

Long is the smoothest forward to get to the rim in the country, and with enough space finishes well above the rim in a variety of ways. She is showing improved range and her handle is well advanced. She talks the game well and craves coaching -- evidence of a very bright future.

Eve Long has not yet played this season for Olathe South. The team has three games left to play (2-1). She is on the bench but has not yet seen any action, and I have not been able to find out why. I discovered her with the U16 American team during the U16 Ameri Cup last June. She is slim, tall, and her athletic potential is obvious. She is the type of hybrid player that Geno likes. Eve has said in multiple past interviews she hopes to get a UConn offer/would love for them to call her. She also is a huge UConn fan. That being said, when Eve revealed UConn was in her top 5, nobody even knew we offered her. 247Sports even reports there is no UConn offer for her. Plus, now that UConn is in her top 5, she said the coach she talks to the least is Geno. I think that is because 1 of 2 things:

1. UConn hasn't given her an offer yet. I know this sounds crazy, but hear me out. Lauren Hassell also plays her position, and UConn has done much heavier recruiting on her. Lauren has also played with Kaleena, and is close with Haylen (live in same state). So Lauren could possibly draw in other recruits, where Eve is less likely to. They might not want Eve to commit early and scare Lauren away. I am sure they will offer Eve as soon as Lauren commits, if this is the case. Eve, again, is a huge UConn fan. Her having UConn in her top 5 without an offer pretty much shows she is just waiting for UConn to offer, so she can commit there.

2. UConn offered Eve late/more recently, in order to keep her from committing too early and scaring Lauren away. This follows the same Lauren-drawing-in-other-recruits strategy. However, if UConn gave her an offer pretty recently, and she already is putting out her Top 5 with UConn in it, they have to be a pretty likely contender, enough to where she doesn't even have to question UConn.

Either way, I think Eve Long is a strong UConn lean. What do you guys think??

Way too many assumptions here. I doubt that Hassell is going to be drawing any recruits in since there’s no confirmation that she even has an offer yet. And with limited roster spots available, the availability of the portal and international markets, and with Ayers and Wilson-Manyacka in the 2027 class with offers, it’s very questionable whether Hassell and Long will even get offers. I’d consider them secondary recruits, not priorities.

Lauren Hassell definitely has an offer. She shared this through her instagram story a long time ago. She has taken 3 unofficial visits already and part of the coaching staff visits her and her high school basically every month. She is clearly one of the primary targets.

Instagram stories are temporary and disappear after 24 hours. I did not take a screenshot so no link sadly. It's possible that I'm mixing her up with someone else but I'm almost 100% certain I remember it correctly.

My reasoning is that with her obvious/demonstrated enthusiasm for the UConn program, not only would she have publicized an offer more by now like most kids do but would possibly have accepted it while it was available because the status of some offers can change over time. I guess we'll have to see how it plays out.

She has not publicized any offers that I know of. Her Twitter and Instagram don’t list any offers. She usually just posts them on her Instagram stories, but they go away after 24hrs
 
Hasn’t been updated to include Ayers and Wilson-Manyacka, but Hassell has an offer per On3.

As for Eve Long, Coach Valley liked her “finalists” post, which is as big an indicator as we’ll get that she’s being actively recruited/talked to.

After bringing in a two person class*, I’m assuming they’re trying to go big for ‘27 (especially because we’ll have 5 Seniors if Jana uses her last year).
