Thanks. I'll bet you thought he was really waiting to see the first semester grades last season too.

Right, because Manuel has such a long history with the program and has demonstrated that he is competent at his job.

Oh, wait. That's the other guy.

Bingo. Someone gets it.

Hmm. First of all, if you think Ward is the only one involved on the University side of this and whatever the rate of progress has been, you haven't a clue. Herbst is certainly in the picture and ultimately the Trustees. Second of all, the overall direction of athletics at UConn is very good, and if you want to blame Manuel for some things, you can't discount him for others. If anyone in their right mind thinks he was twiddling his thumbs or drinking Mai Tais when the realignment was shaking out, and when he was brand new to the job, then you must be on the Board of Trustees because you have an inside seat to Ward's day that few of us have. If, in his shoes you would have behaved far differently when being faced with having to offer an unconditional contract to an untested coach in a national level program, you don't wear his shoes. And if you think he waited too long on PP, Wards first years was the first year that PP had a number of his own recruits available. If WM pulls the trigger immediately after the previous season, and with the realignment underway, it isn't a comforting message to job applicant and for all the situations under his watch, that was the one most under his control. We all love KO, but if business is business, WM has a far greater stake in this than KO does.

Lakers will probably offer him 5 million dollars, idk if that would be enough to get him to leave because of the team right now and no direction going.
But if OKC calls... I guarantee you he will take that job.

Kevin Durant respects the heck out of Kevin Ollie, after all they were teammates. Could not see Ollie passing up okc. I think brooks lasts one more year and then he is out the door.

Thank you, Mrs. Manuel. I'd like to know what exactly he is responsible for, in your mind. Sign me up for that job.

The only decision I'm talking about is this one. I've read all the excuses about all the other things; I'm not talking about them. Yeah, I think he should have handled the initial contract differently and I wouldn't be surprised if that still has some influence about what's going on here, but if so, that just reinforces the importance that he get this thing right now. This one is 100% on him. His decision on the initial contract, his deal now. Herbst has made it 100% clear that it's Manuel's job, and I'm sure she has let him know that she expects him to do it.

I don't care if he has to put up KO billboards on the highways and fire up the Patoni kiln himself to replace the damned Gampel tiles in Ollie's image, but he absolutely cannot let KO get away, and he needs to start acting like he understands that.

The lengths to which some of you are going to try to pin this on Warde and, even more idiotically, his "ego," makes it sound like you have no idea whatsoever how sophisticated (counseled) adults conduct themselves in the real world. It's not a good look.

I really think some of you think Manuel - who is exponentially more successful in his chosen field than you likely are in yours - is siting in his office cackling fiendishly about putting the screws to KO. Thank god you're not involved in the process.

Herbst is obviously a huge Ollie cheerleader I've not seen the same from Warde but I don't live up there so I don't see as much. Is this accurate?

Guy is a step up from Hathaway but so would 90% of us on the Boneyard. So far he seems to be more Tim Cook than Steve Jobs.

Foolish.
