Related to this... How anoying is it that ESPN constantly has to list the "Resumes" of Peck and Kara in almost every segment. We get it. Do they do this, and as often, with the men's basketball announcers? I mean, at a certain point credability comes from what they say and how they say it, not what they have done!

The whole thing, from coverage to EPNS's treatment of the sport, makes me sick. But at least we get to see some great games, even if they are whipped. Trying to put a brighter face...Kara is really good, the only bright spot.

They need to put Kara and Rebecca in charge of production decisions, too.

Just a question are all of these complaints re announcers from the same folks who can't stand Picozzi and Culmo ? Just asking

I am not terribly annoyed by Bob and MC. They do go off on tangents a lot, but Peck and Wingo are seen by all WCBB fans (not just UCONN fans). Their mediocrity is therefore more grating because it adds an element of buffoonery to the womens' game itself.

I agree with others that there are competent folks they could put in those chairs.

[Edit: I, too, like Rebecca, but feel she is better as a guest analyst on the set than as a regular like Peck. At least for now. I especially like her as a sideline reporter, but she is good at color also--most of the time she's *very* good. I admit that as she gets more experience in the color seat, she has taken on a little more of that "analyst-speak" lingo than I'd like. Going a little over the top a little too often, if you know what I mean.]

Trey and Peck need to go. Stale in Trey's case and barely competent, or worse, in Peck's case. It's been too long and WCBB fans need new blood in the studio.

Is anyone else really, really tired of these two?

And now they are showing me Georgia. Ugh, not a good start today.

Caroline Peck is worse than watching paint dry. The woman is the horrible and I hate how they always call her "the coach". She won one national title. Like Muffet. What was Geno's saying about national titles. Win one good, win two then the first was not a fluke. Win three and you are a good coach... something like that....

Not me. I think Picozzi is one of the best PBP announcers in the women's game. Really one of just a few competent ones (one other is Beth Mowins). My guess is the complaints about him relate to to too much of a good thing for UConn fans. Culmo is just OK. She's a UConn insider, and that is both good and bad.

Technically yes she did "win" a national title. But she did it with a team built and trained by Lin Dunn. Poor Lin got fired and Peck was chosen to fill in, and that team won the title in 1999 as I recall.

A better measure of Peck as a coach is her complete failure at Florida after the Purdue job.

Partially Dun. Partially - believe it or not - Nell Fortner. Dunn left after 95-96. Fortner was there for a year only (with Peck as an asst). The 99 NC was Peck's 2nd year of head coaching.

Dunn's main impact would not have been on developing the players, but would have been on recruiting, as White/Douglas/Figgs likely signed when she was still coach. (And when you consider that a couple of players also transferred out after her departure and went to the Duke team they beat -- wow, Purdue really could have been a super power in the late 90s.)

ESPN just throws WCBB a bone - pun intended. It doesn't happen on the men's side, especially professional sports, where they throw everyone at you with their opinions. I say, if there's a will, there's a way. I agree with others, there are a ton of people that they could bring in to work with. Because it's women's sports they are not that interested in giving, who would likely be female announcers, opportunities. It always strikes me funny how they have a guy (Trey) leading the two little women (Kara & Carolyn). I'm very impressed with MSNBC, in the past year they have brought on younger announcers (especially women) and political analysts in what I think is an effort to get younger viewers more interested.

I think you are spot on. We listen to them some 20 or more games a year on our local TV and nit pick. but after listening to a lot of announcers, don't you all agree that Bob & Megan are pretty darned good ?

Trey has to go. He seems really bored. Coach Peck is solid. I have no problem with her or Kara Lawson. I have no problem with Stacey Dales in place of Trey. But I wonder if they have to have a male on set in order to have balance. If that is the case, I can deal with coach Peck stepping aside to let a Dales replace her.

I think Coach Peck may be having personal problems - she actually didn't look well - and I am not joking here.

How about Tamika Randall? She has been doing play by play the last couple of years and is really very good. Most of us will remember her as Tamika Williams, one of Uconn's own.

Tameka Randall played for Pat Summit and the Tennessee Volunteers. Tamika Raymond was our very own CT Husky.

Their names have fled from my porous memory, but the pair who did the call at the Delaware-ALR game were excellent. They talked about what was happening in the game when it was in play and gave us interesting and germane background information when there was a break. The game was almost half over before I realized they'd been doing nothing but enhance my appreciation of the play.

...Nope. Still no clue on the names.

That was Fran Fraschilla and (IIRC) Holly Rowe. Top shelf.

No. Others being equally bad does not make them good. There are also teams out, there that do a nice job.

I like Rebecca more at games - she does a really good job there.

Wingo is terrible. Though I'm not sure Brunson is the answer.

Lobo's monotone voice drives me crazy.

I agree easttexas, for me the voice is what makes a person enjoyable to listen to. I wonder if the folks who hire these people actually ever watch them do a game. The one voice that really drives me crazy is Waner, when she's doing a game the mute button is my best friend.

We're getting there. Let's keep sorting them out.

It was Sameka Randall who played for Summitt. Not to be confused with . . .

Eureka Handle -- set records for corralling "look what I found" loose balls.

Paprika Vandal -- fiery player known for spraying graffiti in opponents' locker rooms.

Topeka Scandal -- played at Kansas before leaving school in disgrace.

NONONO!!! They have to stay in the studio! That way they're not screwing up play-by-play of actual games!

I agree completely. Great to hear Fraschilla's Xs and Os talk re: how KS was defending against EDD. A lot of insightful commentary.
