Who is 'ahead' of him at KY?

Tyus Jones and Emmanual Mudiay are both being recruited harder by Kentucky. If he does decide on August 25th it seems like it won't be Kentucky... article seems to think that it'll be UConn or west coast team. I'll take him and then we can wipe Kentucky's face with their own "scraps"

It's true. Initially, UF wanted Rashad to walk on. They came to their senses later.

I heard a story from a beat writer that Donovan took rashad out to lunch and pretty much wouldn't let him leave until he gave him a "yes". Some say RA actually said "yes" just to get him off his back. I heard this from a UF booster.

There was a lot going on during the Rashad saga. After 9/11/02, there was even more pressure on him to stay "at home".

Some local businesses threatened to pull back sponsorship of the Lakeland HS hoops program if RA didn't go to UF. We had some people from Lakeland posting as much on the Yard.

Some people deserve to be shot.
I have a couple hard decisions to make between signing up my older daughter for a youth sports league run by people like this (well-organized) or letting her stay in the laidback but disorganized league where they even ask for people like me (who never played soccer) to coach a team.

I am to tired to remember who, but it was not Bazz and Lamb being recruited by Kentucky. It was one or two Kentucky players that UConn was involved with on the recruiting trail. That was one reason the semifinal win was sweet.

I don't like the fact that we're obviously just Kentucky's leftovers, but it's worked out for us before (see: Lamb, Bazz).

At least our guys stick it out for a few years. I prefer that to ren-a-player.

Also, I think Ollie offers a different dynamic than JC. It might appeal to the modern player more. NBA pedigree, super nice, and black. JC was old school, and I'm not sure how that related as well to the modern player the past few years. Also, importantly, Ollie is young and not likely to leave anytime soon, where JC had one foot out the door for the last few years, what with age, sanctions, health, and a coach in waiting on the bench.

I think Ater Majok was pursued by UK, and we won that one. They wined and dined him at the Kentucky Derby, if memory serves. Not that it worked out, but still.

"Duke was inquiring but they told me earlier in the year I was the backup to Tyus Jones," Perkins said. "I don't really feel I'm anyone's backup."

So if you're Kevin Ollie aren't you pointing out to Perkins that you're Kentucky's backup to Jones and Mudiay and that you're UConn's number 1 recruit at the point guard spot? And selling Perkins that UConn has 2 more national championships since 1999 than Kentucky? And showing him the ESPN.com Path to the Draft feature where they ranked the top college programs in producing NBA players since 1999 and UConn was ranked 3rd and Kentucky 4th?

You don't want Perkins to feel he's "settling" for UConn. Hey Josh, we're UConn. We don't feel like we're anyone's back up school, damn it!

O.K., so when I can go out on the road recruiting to help out? :)
