Eric Reibe highlights from CBI

Am I in the minority that doesn’t really see much here? I think the kid will be good, but this highlight is not exactly earth shattering.
Earth shattering? No. Loads of potential? Yes.

He will struggle like all freshmen do with the speed and physicality of the college game, but this highlights the superior tools and footwork he has.

He is 7-0 tall with that kind of finesse? Great post moves. I just got a little happier about next year. Good Lord another two-headed monster.

Clingan having to guard Adama in practice certainly escalated his development for sure.

Reibe is going to battle Tarris everyday in practice, getting destroyed by Tarris is going to improve Reibe's game for sure.
Clingan came in with good footwork and all the inside shots with either hand. Like Adama well coached in HS. Getting Adama in practice for Clingan was like a dream come true for the team, coaches and each other. Playing against Adama was playing against a stone wall. After Adama the wall became 7" taller with elite shotblocking ability. Reibe and Tarris? Oh boy.

Let us not forget that Clingan was coached very early on by his mother Stacy, who starred at the University of Maine.

Reibe is much more polished offensively than DC coming into his freshman year. Not sure if he is as good as DC on the defensive end but he is not a "project" any more than DC was coming to Storrs. He will have an impact his freshman year.

The reason foot work matters is a 7 footer that just doesn’t lumber up and down the court like Lurch, catching an occasional lob or rebound that falls into his hands is a major asset.

All I needed to see was his dribble between his legs as smooth as you please. I'm sold.
Pretty. Except in the BE that would be stolen the instant it passes through his legs.

I watched the hoop summit thing that he was in and thought he looked good, especially on offense. He had a few nice putbacks and was in good spots on the floor. He got cooked on defense by the bigger Boozer kid but so did everyone and he had no help at all. He did manage to keep himself between him and the basket and defended without fouling much. I don't have any evaluation experience or anything like that but I thought he looked really good. I think he's going to be a nice college player. Especially if he can knock down a couple of threes here and there to make the defense come out and guard him.

Is his name pronounced “Ryba” or “Reebee”? I’ve heard it pronounced both ways. Forty years ago I dated a girl with the same last name, and it was pronounced “Reebee”.

Ry-bah

I am dying to see Reibe at the 4. I know the foul nazis won't let me have my fun, but geez, shoots the 3, handles well and can post up. Would have problems with a real quick 4 on D.

The coordination and practice needed for a big man to do that doesn't impress you?

I hope you not basing that on those num-nuts that called the All Star game.

He is a hall of fame level player until he plays some minutes in a UConn jersey at which point he is not a UConn level player and he should be replaced by whoever hasn’t yet received minutes.

Pay attention.

Yes it does. If he likes to put the ball on the floor as he shows in his post moves which he can get away with at his current level it will be interesting. Gonna have to be one bounce and quick. Tarris is powerful enough to hang onto the ball but is he?

CBI is the Chris Brickley invitational

His post game coming in might be as good as freshman Adama.

At 7 feet that type of footwork makes a guy a nightmare to guard in the post especially if hes got some touch. If this kid keeps his eye on become the best player he can be and leading this team to titles and not just dreaming of the NBA he could spend a couple of years here and become a legend like DC did.
