The early rumor in Trillyland was to watch for BC (Luke) so I wouldn’t be shocked if Dan is interested as well.
He isn’t good. He has less of a wingspan than Wemby and can’t shoot or dribble.

He'd be a get, 3 years left. Hurley likes players he's seen in person. Wonder if there was a wink wink in the handshake line after.
Yes… both would fill perfect gaps on next seasons prospective rosterWilkins and Cyril would make me very happy.
When thinking about Wilkins, people probably need to temper expectations. The starting backcourt next year is highly likely going to be Silas and Solo. Not sure this kid is taking a bench role with us.
Sure but I was talking more from his perspective not oursI don’t think the staff is that short sighted - kid has three years left.

I was laughing when I read what you wrote about his height. For some reason I thought 6'. Ok let's get him. Hurley's type of player

Isn't our backcourt already pretty logjammed next year? This is the kid.
Isn't our backcourt already pretty logjammed next year?
PG: Demary/County
SG: Solo/Landrew/Furphy
SF: Ross/Stewart
There's also Mullins (if he returns), and baby Ross (if he takes a step) to account for.
Even if a couple people transfer, I'm barely seeing minutes for all those guys, let alone an additional transfer portal guard. Hurley doesn't play more than 9 guys in rotation. Are you guys saying you think 3+ guards are transferring out for us? Or that you want this Furman dude to be an Alec Millender type?

Simply saying staff would figure things out to make it work. You could roll into 2027 with a starting back court of Wilkins and County with a year in the system.
He and Newton around 33% from 3. He’s for room to get better in a better offense.
Here’s the thing, Newton was an AA on 42/32/81 shooting. He was not a good shooter, but he could create his shot at will, could break down anyone, wanted to take big shots, hit big shots, and had good vision. Unbelievably small sample size, but Wilkins showed all of that. We greatly lack a guy who can just create. It’s why we often look so bad in end of half, one shot situations. We have to run half court offense to get a shot bc no one can get their own. No idea if Wilkins would want to come here and be one of the guys vs “the” guy somewhere else, but his skillset is what we need. From the few games I have seen Wilkins play his shooting % is largely based on poor shot selection. That can be fixed. He has nice form and confidence is not an issue. He will definitely be sought after by many high level programs. Would love to have him on the roster. Being from Murdapan (Mattapan, MA) maybe he wants to return closer to home.
I don’t know about rebounding but even high arching shots would be bouncing off this kids face at that heightI would hope better back up centers would be available in the portal. To back up Reibe I think we could use a defensive center who rebounds and blocks shots.
He's 6'5" - plenty tall.
Not unless they want to tamper. Transfer portal doesn't open up until April 7.Same height as Newton. He plays like Newton. Have we called him yet?
He is a maac level playerRioux...7'9"...the Florida kid...entering the portal.
Does he have rotational ceiling on a good team down the road...just a frosh.
He sure would spark interest wherever he goes.
Would Hurley take a look?
Should he take a look?

Stepping up from the SoCon to the Big East is a bit more of a step up than from the AAC I'd argue. Lest we forget the struggle Mahaney had making the jump from the WCC to the Big East and he was a first-team all conference player at the time.I was laughing when I read what you wrote about his height.
Only thing is he's supposedly not a great 3 point shooter. But he looked damn good against us from three. Was Newton a good three point shooter at East Carolina? I don't remember.
Edit: I just checked out Newton's stats at East Carolina. Not a great three point shooter but not bad either. Similar stats at UConn. So Wilkins would probably be fine. He carried a heavy load at Furman so that probably weighed down his efficiency.

Wait a week for such discussion. Preparing for a Final Four weekend. Don't invite others to a distraction. All hands on deck.

Nothing to do with timeWe're not involved with the game prep. We have the time.

They are 100% bringing in a transfer PG to replace Malachi. Hurley has already said that Wilkins is the kind of guy they are looking for in a PG (although I am not sure he would be looking to invest that kind of capital into the position next year). Yes, you have to get him to accept a bench role (in which he plays both backup minutes to Demary and minutes when Ball takes a seat. So a fair number of minutes. Then he would be primed to take the starting job as a junior.Isn't our backcourt already pretty logjammed next year?
