Entering the portal - 2026

need to be all over this one as an AK replacement

Just got back home from being away 4 hours. Finally, I was wondering about this guy. I know auror mentioned him 2 days before the NCAAT started and I saw Graves in a few games this year and in the first round vs Kentucky and I thought this guy is really good. And my thoughts about Allen Graves and what I am saying to Hurley and staff after seeing this tweet.....

Looks like Michigan is closing in on Flory too.

They’re about to have an elite portal class.

Wow, something like this would make me think maybe our initial impression of our NIL ($10-12m?) might be off.

How are we fielding a roster spreading 7-8m across 14 roster spots? Even 8-9 cause we assume it’s top heavy.

He’s good enough for UM and Purdue but not us?
I went and watched a mixtape on YouTube. Seems to have a decent touch around the hoop, but a single dunk on the mixtape. For a 7’ 3” dude? Is it just a bad mixtape? No thanks based on what I saw

Yeah, if Tristian isn’t getting a shot in the NBA, I’m not sure how Silas thinks he will
Silas has better physical tools and is a more efficient player. Also is a better defender.

Crazy. They literally have a huge class - including the 7'3" Marcus Moller recovering from cancer. In terms of their size, they are on par with some NBA teams.

Please consider sources and aggregators people

Who are their insiders?

He was at Louisville today and has a visit scheduled to Duke on Sunday.
They’re staff that’s paid to have connections to all Michigan athletic programs. They’re like StorrsCentral except they’ve been doing it for a decade +.

It’s on their paid board (I follow it for Michigan football content).

Don’t think Estrella is that good- surprised they even made an offer to him.
Sorry if you've already answered this somewhere (I'm just reading through the this part of the thread and see you posted this a couple days ago) but what don't you like about Estrella's game?

Averaged 10ppg on just below 60% shooting and over 5 boards in just over 18mpg. Productive player on a good team in a good league.

I saw May signed him, just rolled my eyes and said, "of course" lol.

Edit: just saw some other comments about him having a terrible defensive rating and high foul rate. I assume these are the reasons you and others aren't high on him?

I’m assuming Silas will do the test and return thing again, but I really don’t understand the point, if I’m being honest. He’s not an NBA player yet.
He is set up to come back, have an insane senior season the way Newton did, then take advantage of a weak draft class next year.

He may test the waters but I doubt he ultimately goes

Say we compare him to Montez Johnson Jr.- would imagine if Montez goes to the league- he will play that role.

With that said, he cannot shoot it as well as Montez (if at all to be honest), his post moves are not as strong, more importantly he’s not close to the defensive player that Montez is- both on the shot blocking piece as well as moving his feet side to side & being able to guard perimeter players.

A major reason why Michigan was the number one defensive efficiency rank per KenPom in the nation was because they could & would switch one through four with Yax & Johnson being strong perimeter defenders- not to mention they both could shoot threes so the spacing was ideal with Mara down low (even he could shoot threes as well).

I would say my constructive feedback on Estrella is more so comparing to the bigs Michigan just had & maybe that’s not fair but if you want to repeat as champions we probably should. May will probably develop him more so we will see what happens!!

If Allen Graves (Santa Clara) decides to stay in the portal & not leave for the draft (declared as well already) he would be the perfect replacement for Karaban. Obviously it would take a ton of $ to get him & he would have to stay in college, but the fit couldn’t be better.

Most mock drafts that I looked over last weekend he was being drafted anywhere from 20-30 first round.

At 12:20pm on April 11th, the Program is hemorrhaging. 3 seniors gone. 3 Bigs gone leaving us with zero Bigs. A great Coach leaving. One starting guard weighing a decision. Only two kids coming in. Complete Doom. But, Hurley did say there’s a LONG line of players that won’t in.

Maybe they can resurrect The Yankee Conferece

Appreciate the response, was just curious of your reasoning.

I agree that May will get the most out of him. I do also think it's tough not to look at him as a guy who has already been productive offensively (I don't think it was you who wrote this but I know at least one person in this thread has) when as mentioned he averaged 10ppg on 59% shooting in under 20mpg. But if he does have issues staying on the floor due to foul trouble and is limited defensively I'm not sure it's quite the pickup some pundits are making it out to be.
