Entering the portal - 2026

lol is this a serious comment?

Yeah we should all expect/hope he improves as a sophomore. The issue is what he’s shown recently, relative to our last 2 backup Cs that became starters, and if he will improve enough to be a starter next season.
Yes, it’s serious. Chill out, man.

And Mullins at this point is still on the team next year. We'll see what he decide to do. Landrew is a great player. Should be a 5 star. He has the physicality and the tools to contribute right away. Stewart(senior), Ross(senior), Landrew is better than Stewart(junior), Ross(junior), Mullins.

Landrew, who has never played a second of college basketball, is better than Stew, Ross, and Mullins?

This portal year looks like it's going to be insane. How long will it be until there are multiple teams in the $25M+ range for a roster? If you believe the rumors, a lot of these guys are asking for $5M or more...I think it was reported that our NIL budget was between $10-12M for this current team? No way could we afford to spend half of the budget on one guy
The new PC coach was saying no one was asking for less than a million so by that logic the cream of the crop are definitely in that 3-5m area. It’s crazy but like professional sports the YOY increases are mind boggling and don’t appear to be sustainable

Lewis got to play 30mpg with the ball in his hands from day 1 and is still entering the portal, this era of cbb is wild. I figured Lewis/Perkins/Lindsay would be a given to return and Willard could build out the rest of the roster from there.
He is just testing to see what he should be getting paid. There is a good chance he returns but Villanova will have to increase his pay.

I have a wish list. I’ll hold it til Friday, out of respect.

I think he has potential to be a legit NBA player. He will be fine. We certainly need a capable backup to him or if Hurley thinks he's not ready, a starter. But Reibe can and should play a lot of minutes.

He is a PF
Yeah but I didn't even comment on his position in my original post so not sure why I was being told what position he wasn't big enough for. All I said was he was solid player and the crystal ball was probably bogus. Didn't say we should recruit him either.

Uhh, anyone catch that comment from Silas after the game? Said he 'has a tough decision to make whether to return next season'.

That would be an extremely surprising loss, can't imagine he's thinking about the pros...

Was there ever a rule that if a player graduated in four years he gets one extra year, but it has to be with a different team?

If you graduated and enrolled in a grad program at the new school that was not offered at your original school, you didn’t have to sit out a year. But it was still capped at 4 years of playing. Mostly used by red shirt guys or guys that graduated in 3 years.

How many guys do we think we are adding?
Starting PF, starting caliber/timeshare 5, and backup PG seem like an absolute certainty. The 2/3 is the most unknown to me. Does Mullins come back (probably not but at least seems like a possibility unlike a couple months ago)? Does the staff think the wrist injury is what killed Solo’s shooting and that he’ll come back better next year? Do they think Ross will provide enough offense to start?

Last night really showed how badly we need some guys who can score off the dribble. Our entire offense was essentially 3pt dependent and we didn’t have many wrinkles to take advantage of their switching or have anyone who could get in the lane and make things happen.

I think both our starting Gs being hobbled and in foul trouble had a part in that…though I don’t disagree with the sentiment for next year.

No. It was just a rule that allowed anyone who graduated to transfer without sitting out a year. Now irrelevant. It was in place so a kid who graduated in 3 years (or 4 if they only played 3) could transfer elsewhere and go to grad school.
