Entering the portal - 2026

Stepping up from the SoCon to the Big East is a bit more of a step up than from the AAC I'd argue. Lest we forget the struggle Mahaney had making the jump from the WCC to the Big East and he was a first-team all conference player at the time.
Mahaney was not a true point guard

Assuming Rioux left because he doesn’t want to be the third string bench C which is exactly what he’d be here. Won’t work. Someone call Matt Painter though

We have an established backcourt next year. If we were to recruit backcourt players, it would either be 1) a veteran backup PG which I’m like 90% sure will happen, 2) a proven superstar at the power level, or 3) a bigger player with the size and physicality we were missing at times. I’m sure Wilkins is looking for a starting gig with a lot of shots. I’m interested in bringing him off the bench and then seeing if he’s ready to take the keys as an upperclassman, but I doubt that’s his timeline for himself. Wouldn’t bet on it

This Georgia C is intriguing.. 6’11 260lb that dominates the paint defensively. 2 years left. Wonder what Silas thinks
It’s 2026. Wilkins will go to a second division power school this year, start, and move to a contender as a junior. But with every team now having both money and a budget, he’s worth more cash to someone as a starter than to go somewhere and sit on the bench, and he’s only making a one year commitment.

What’s with the 5 rebounds per game?
I dug deeper.

Cyril was 15th in the SEC in offensive rebounding rate (impressive) but his defensive rebounding rate isn't very strong. However, Georgia's defensive rebound rate as a whole is terrible [16th in the SEC] so my guess is that has to do with their system. Georgia is a pace-based offense, so my guess is that they prioritize having less people crash the boards to set up their transition offense.

LOL! Mahaney's problem wasn't the step up from WCC to Big East it was that he wasn't physical enough or big enough for the Big East. I think Wilkins proved against us in the opening round that he's plenty physical for the Big East

No shocker here. He got noticed by going to Furman. I know he's on the short side but he's the type of guard we need to break down players, good IQ and not selfish. Hmmm???
Since when is being short a hindrance?

If im bringing Cyril in it’s as a back up. Reibe upside offensively is too high.

If you want someone who is a Hurley big that could challenge to start I think there will be better options

This is my number 2 want behind Wilkins so far. Big Guard. Will probably test the draft waters though

I don’t think the staff is that short sighted - kid has three years left.

Perhaps, but a desperate P4 who needs a starter at guard can likely outbid us and offer starters' minutes from day one. I'd love to have him but don't like our chances.

Great part about the portal is he can be back on the market in a year.

I know a guy at Boston College who may be familiar with his game!

IDK, why bounce around. Learn one system, then do it all over again a year later? He can get solid backup minutes here, actually grow in the system, and still have 2 years to develop

When I see Rrezon Elezaj near Reide, he looks way taller than what's listed on the roster sheet.
So you're saying he gives you a Rrezon to believe he can contribute.

Because he’ll be worth more to a team on which he’ll be the guy than he will to a team that wants him as a rotation player. $$$$

Think he’d fit quite well

Kid would be a grab - guessing Indiana goes big on him, Purdue. Not sure what he was thinking going to ND to start. I can see Dusty throwing some $$ at him to replace Yaxel too. Waiting to see if Adams sticks with Maryland.

He feels like B10 bait.

FYI - being reported the center from GA is getting offers for 4mm. Doubt we are bidders there. Big men are going to be going for ridiculous amounts of NIL - if we look to make Reibe our starter, I would not expect a top guy behind him. We'll be shopping in the consignment. Furman big = 2mm.

We have a wide open spot for him at the 3/4. We should have the money to spend too.
