OT: East #2

7 of their losses were by 5pts or fewer. They have size and at least one very talented dude who wants to kill us on a personal level. Meanwhile we're mentally and (mostly) physically soft.
Who is the Paladin who wants to kill us?

I think it's redicoulus that the committee does everything they possibly can to F with the Big East . Putting us and St John's in the same bracket is criminal, especially since the league only landed three teams. They should be in 3 seperate brackets

I realize you have to win to get there, but it's still wrong and I doubt they do this nonsense to anyone else

Having said that, LET'S GO HUSKIES

Would be awesome to play the Redmen again

And give them an a** beating on a neutral court on national tv.

.-.
The committee wanted Hurley vs Cronin for ratings..

Don’t like UConn vs Ucla
The committee wanted to see a rock fight in Philly. Meeting Carrot Top and Hurley? This could be a script written in Hollywood. Make sure JC and his old friends get tickets.

I don’t understand what’s going on in this thread.

Edit: I watched the video. Not exactly a feel good press avail from Hurley. Yeesh.
These most recent pressers from Hurley have been weird - almost like he's talking more about what they've earned/great season and less about being confident, almost like he's conceding. Tone is off.

Previous recent pressers similar.

The bit about how many players/coaches meetings have they had - and it was zero. No leadership on this team. That's on Dan though - he's not recruiting kids with substance. I'll ask the question, if Karaban isn't this, what is the point in continue rolling him back 2x - because he can help organize an action? He should be tone setting, meanwhile can't run a decent inbounds. I thought he was a "coach" on the court? We laude the kid for

This was really lame too

Dan, just go recruit kids that you don't have to make excuses for - holy cow. You think we're going to move the BE tourney?

A LOT riding on his tourney showing.

Especially the opener! They need to come out blazing and blow Furman out! Destroy them, get back to dominating, and have a less stressful 2nd half. It's human nature to work only as hard as you need to but after the awful losses, there is no wiggle room for bad stretches.
If not for Brimah's baby hook + 1 and karate chop vs St. Joe's, we'd have one less national title.

Hurley brought in four recruits/transfers that contributed zero this season. You just can't have that many wasted roster spots.

I said before the tournament, Iowa State could make the Final Four. Dangerous team.
They have some pieces, but are flawed. If anyone can tie up Momlonovic, they'd have a really hard time scoring.

When we are on the Huskies can beat anyone. Hurley has had a problem getting consistent performances out of them. Now he just needs to get enough out of them to survive and advance.

Yep, I thought it was a bummer of a media session. He clearly wants any kind of leadership from the players and he hasn't gotten it from anyone. AK knows when he's playing badly in these games and he's such a perfectionist and knows the game so well that it effects his leadership when things are going badly for him on the court. Coach needs him to pick up freshman Mullins when he's also struggling and that hasn't happened. The players are looking to him for stability and leaderhip in the huddles. There's been no players only type of meetings to try and rally each other after we play badly. Nobody in the locker room has gotten fired up and tried to will the team to play better. Hurley wants someone to get pissed and challenge the guys...

Players are pressing and overthinking things and they need to carry themselves like a group who has won 29 games, they didn't take the floor in the Big East tournament title game anything like a team who has earned the record they have earned, didn't have any swagger taking the floor.

Rothstein has us in the Final 4, knocking off Pitino and the Johnnies in the Elite 8! Then advancing to the Championship game and ultimately losing the rematch to Purdue.

Dan Hurley "The Carpenter"

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… Rothstein is the most pro-UConn member of the national media. Unabashedly pro-UConn. Talks about this program year round. And I love it.

We don't have a lot of personality on this team.

Ball has some, but he's 1-dimensional and when his one dimension isn't working (as it often hasn't this year) it's hard for others to feed off of that.

Demary is reserved, though so was Newton.

Mullins is a freshman and not our go-to guy.

Reed is inconsistent mentally and gets lost on defense, not someone you'd turn to for leadership. Maybe for energy in the right circumstances.

Karaban is the closest we have, but it's hard for your 4th option to lead, especially when he's more of a connective piece and isn't really a tone-setter at either end. (A guy like Jeff Adrien wasn't a go-to playmaker, but he did set the tone.)

I don't know what Hurley could have done differently -- you can't make a Cam Spencer type appear out of thin air every year. At this point we just ride it out and hope for the best.

Yes good seed and half of East bracket. Do not care that our brackets has Kansas, St. Johns, Duke - we can only play one of them in the elite 8 so not worth hammering how stacked the bracket is.

Take care of Furman then see what UCLA and UCF do.

Shouldn’t the 6 seed play the 3rd seed and not the 1 seed?
That is the selection committes ranking which is after seeds are massaged up or down so compare it to NET and bart and Ken and see the differences

Ironically the only Cam comp coming in was, gulp, Jacob Furphy. Guess well see next year
