Ease up there, Shaka

Every once in a while the outcomes are obvious. Just an awful matchup for VCU.
I didn't understand people who picked VCU to win the whole tournament. They needed a really good draw for that, and seeing Michigan there? Ugh, not working for them.

I saw some Michigan games. I don't think they're going to win the whole thing, but they're far better than the average 4 seed. I think they're much better than Ohio State, and probably Gonzaga and Miami as well.

There is a regular on the site named Jerry who likes to bust my cherries, in particular telling me I have a low bball IQ when I debuked the idea he and others maintain that Shaka is a phenom and great coach. I stand by my LOW bball IQ and restate my opinion that words like phenom and great are reserved for the few who have earned it. Shaka has earned only the notation in my mind of being a young innovative defensive thinker who has a decent plan but yet to understand that if it isn't working you need to implement plan B and Plan C. His style works if the officiating is loose and the opponents have inexperienced ball handlers who haven't figured out that the sidelines are your enemy. If a team doesn't rattle it beats the pressure. Will he become a great coach? Perhaps A phenom? Not Close. He needs years of experience and to hire some recruiters who can lure a few big guys who fit his style.
Michigan - a team who has wilted this year under some other teams pressures have eaten this scheme up and has turned VCU into a very ordinary team that is deflated and has given up.

VCU's defense is quite reliant on the ineptitude that is college refereeing. Lots of insane hand checking that refs write off because of VCU's rep. I have them getting to the final four, but if you have two great ballhandlers you can blow them out.
Quite prescient.

The part about ballhandlers and blowing them out that is.

WOW, Shaka coaches a team to a 25 point loss. Maybe VCU should be looking at the JackRabbits coach.
