2026 Recruiting: Dylan Mingo Official Visit this weekend!

I don’t think the 22 year old Euro was brought in for no reason. Smith hasn’t been able to practice much with injury issues. I can see Smith and the Euro having the same roles Diarra and Joey had in 2023 and him being brought in for insurance.

Joey was also brought in as an afterthought after Diarra to fill out the guard room. They’re in pretty much the same scenario.

One guy is going from playing against grown men to 18-22 year olds (in a league he shot 47% from the field in) and the other is going from playing HSers to 18-22 year olds (where he shot 40% from the field).

This is not hard to project.

This was before the Euro was brought in (and the lack of guard depth was probably why)

Buddy, if every point guard we have gets hurt there’s a chance this 15th man might get spot minutes. He’s not brought in for Joey C’s role and he’s not ahead of Furphy in the pecking order. You said that so definitely so many times it’s hard not to see bias.

Thinking a five star, number 1 pg recruit in the country is puzzling out how he fits into a lineup with an Australian kid who isn’t even definitely a pg is nuts.
I don’t believe this conversation has anything to do with Mingo at this point. This seems to have all started as a discussion around which backup guard/wing will get 5-10 minutes a game off the bench.

Overrated or not by this board, a poster is making the definitive point that Furphy is behind Paunovic in playing time and I doubt that. He’s objectively a better prospect.

No one is even talking about Mingo anymore. Unfortunately, HW has derailed another thread by making wild claims and then saying “this isn’t hard.”
Fair, I’m not going to defend that crazy take.

We need another open scrimmage or something very soon the natives are getting restless.
Mingo would be an incredible get and fill a huge need for us - unfortunately we are DOOMED!!!

No it started because someone thought the 11th person on our depth chart this year was going to affect whether Mingo would want to come here or not. Like PA said.

Yes, he's brought in as insurance and he's insurance on top of the insurance Millender was brought in for. If God forbid something happens to Malachi and he can't play we're screwed and our chances to contend/win it all go down significantly. If God forbid something happens to Silas and Malachi and Malachi becomes the starting point guard and Millender and than Uros are backing him up we're royally screwed. If Silas and Malachi are both out with injury you will finally get your wish and Solo will be the starting point guard.
Newton/Diarra/Joey C
=
Demary/Smith/Uros the Euro

Furphy is one that after watching him play - oh my. That dude is talent, mojo and grit squared. I don’t know how he sits on the bench while he’s at UConn.

Because we have not just one, but TWO Ross’s……and we all know they are both clearly all Americans that demand playing time!

Tell that to HW611 he’s got him 14th man and getting zero minutes. I guess we’ll all see.

No one knows how it's going to play out - no one here is Nostradamus or some eagle eyed talent evaluating forecaster. Slinging out predictions is a bunch of bologna - just a game of I can't wait to show them how much I know. The crazier the guess, the smarter you think you are in the event it does play out. Make enough of them, one is bound to stick.

I just know it's going to be a super exciting season to see how this all plays out and comes together.

Eh it’s not always crazy guesses against the grain.

It could be stuff like saying Cam was going to prove to be a better college player than Hawkins or saying Castle and Clingan were going to be top 5 picks (Clingan should’ve went top 5) before the season even started. And how 2024 was more talented and could be better than 23 (which was blasphemous coming off of the most dominating tournament run ever losing Jackson, Hawkins, and Sanogo).

Could also be things like saying the 2023 team led by Jackson was going to be similar to 2011 when Kemba got his chance to lead (and what do ya know a championship happened).

I’ve been doing this for awhile man and it’s not always some wonky take on how a player is going to breakout. (Even though I did beat that Hawkins and Solo drum as much as I do for Ross).

How do you want the Yard to respond to this take if it doesn't come to be? It is against the grain of every opinion not only on here but of every CBB and UConn insider I have seen. This includes practice rumblings or what the boosters saw at the open practice recently. I have not seen a hint of this take anywhere else. In fact, it goes against what Hurley and Tom Moore previously stated publicly.

While it is bold, you have defended it quite forcefully while giving little ground (several posts ago you said Furphy may play Ahmad Nowell minutes as a freshman, which is essentially what is already projected by everyone else)

You say you've been doing this a long time and that may be true, but tenure and predictive ability are not the same thing. This Uros take may end up being correct by the end of the season, but I will have difficulty giving any credence to your posts in the future if it is not. Apologies if this is dismissive, but it reads like Bill Simmons-type hot take to stay relevant.

If you have any direct sources to confirm what you're saying, feel free to post them.

How do you think Internet forums actually work? He has the same right to post his opinions and predictions as anyone else.

If every poster who has been wrong in the past, is ignored in the future, no site would last more than a year or two.

The boneyard's been around for 27 years and a few weeks. I think this guy may actually survive being wrong.

What 611 does (or attempts to do), is what just about every highly rated sports talk/radio show does. Whether right or wrong, legitimate or not, hot takes raise the temperature in the room and get people going. Content.

I used to do a blog for a class. This was the year 2017 and these were 2 of the posts.

Been doing this for awhile lmao

You can imagine anyone with ears was cooking me for my LeBron to LA take back in November of 2017.
