2026 Recruiting: Dylan Mingo Official Visit this weekend!

He arrived at Storrs, visited with coaches and team members as well as some members of the education areas. He ate dinner at undisclosed places and partied at clandestine dorms and apartments.
He watched some workouts, probably took some shots, said THANKS for the hospitality and I'll call you soon......................................................
You forgot the part about it being 69 and sunny on Saturday. 😉

Ray would've been considered the best player in college basketball as a sophomore last year.

Its based on Ray scoring 21 points a game as sophomore on 49% FG and 44% from 3.

The two best players in cbb didn't even average 20. This in the era of spacing and offenses that are suppose to make it easy to score and be efficient too.

CBB was so good during these times Ray wasn't even an AA with those numbers on a team who won the Big East.
But Ray didn’t win 2 national championships. I am not disputing who was the better player but who had the better career. Tristen went 2 for 2 for national championships. I also am not saying #34 should not be retired. I am saying #2 should be. It fits the criteria.

Freud is huge in recruiting.

You want to call me weird, then I'm going to Zanetto you. Think twice next time.

Zanetto was good on that one - he cannot name his sources which I get, but he wasn't making stuff up - said he got some texts and one say "you're getting Mingo" and even said that is not confirmation. I don't think he'll be faster than the yard in breaking news, but good to hear him depict accounts from his sources.

Ray was an All American on the 3rd team for many publications that had those in 1995, but I get what you are saying. Ray was the first player UConn got was elite and had an exciting highlight level play. Donyell was the first high school McDonald's All-American UConn got, but Ray's game was more highlight driven especially with him playing the 2 or 3 which in general is a more highlight driven position than a 4 like Donyell's game.

I saw this on googles AI so I don’t know if it’s actually a thing. But you have to be a Basketball HOF in order to get your jersey retired at UConn. Very very high standard if true as I think the only jerseys retired on both sides are Ray Allen, Richard Hamilton, Rebecca Lobo, and Swin Cash.

I can’t find an article that says this standard directly.

Clingan was the backup to the MOP so forgive me for failing to agree that Clingan THE difference maker.
He was so good as a backup big he could’ve came out that year and got drafted as a first rounder.

He 100% impacted that 2023 championship. He was an 10-0 run waiting to happen anytime he checked in.

He was probably the most impactful bench player in the country.

You're probably correct.

But that's not really what's being talked about. His impact in BY lore is growing by the day.

He was incredibly impactful, but he wasn't THE reason they won ... in '23 for sure.

RIP is not in the HOF
